The Donna Who Bought Out Family and Love for $100 Million Chapter 05

Cassian rose and opened the door.

Nerina entered with reddened eyes.

“Cassian, what’s wrong? You haven’t been home in three days. Our son cries every day because he misses

his papa. Please come see him.”

Cassian’s voice was hoarse.

“You have the nerve to come here?”

Nerina reached for him, arranging her face into a pitiful expression.

“Cassian, Evelina is gone!”

“How can you still care about a woman who ran off with the money and abandoned you?”

“Our son and I can take her place. We can still be a happy family. If you miss her, pretend I’m Evelina. I don’t

care, as long as it makes you happy-”

Cassian clamped a hand around her throat, cutting her off.

“Shut up!”

He spoke through clenched teeth.

“You are not her. You aren’t even worthy of being compared to her.”

“If it weren’t for you, none of this would have happened. You and your family played her for a fool for three years, then tried to take everything she had-her husband, her family, even her name.”

“If it weren’t for you, she would still be right here with me.”

Nerina clawed at his hand and coughed in pain as a twisted look slowly crept into her eyes.

“You’re blaming me now?”

“Don’t forget… you share the blame for what she suffered these past three years. You’re the main reason she

lost all hope and left!”

Nerina tore herself free and screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Wake up, Cassian! You are not innocent!”

“You willingly slept with me for three years and got me pregnant. Now all of New York knows I’m the Vescari Family’s Madre, and no one even remembers Evelina. She isn’t coming back. You have no choice but to stay

with me-”

Cassian gave a humorless laugh and stared her down.

“Madre? Nerina, in New York, there is nothing Cassian Vescari cannot do.”

A bloodthirsty madness gleamed in his green eyes.

“You’d better pray I find Evelina. Otherwise, I’ll make the entire Caradonna Family learn what it costs to cross

a Vescari.”

Fear finally appeared in Nerina’s eyes. She scrambled out of the room.

“We found a lead!”

Cassian’s aide burst through the door.

“Don Vescari, we found a lead on the Madre.”

He set his laptop in front of Cassian.

“There was a shooting at Mondello Beach recently. Look at this woman. Is it her?”

Cassian enlarged the photograph with a trembling hand.

It was her.

It really was Evelina.

His heart pounded as he issued the order in a low voice.

“Get the private jet ready. We’re leaving for Sicily now.”
