The Donna Rose Buried in the Snow Chapter 03

The Donna Rose Buried in the Snow Chapter 03

“I did everything you asked.”

“I said I loved her. I treated her well. I gave her everything she wanted.”

“I told the whole world that Damien Caruso loved Alison Hayes.”

“Except for giving her a child… I gave her everything.”

“But Natalia,” he lowered his head, voice bitter, “today I finally realized something.”

“Some people are just greedy.”

“You can give them everything you have… and it’ll never be enough.”

He bowed his head lower, almost pleading.

“Please… let me divorce her, okay?”

Every sweet memory turned into blades.

They drove into my chest, one after another.

I tried to pull them out, but they dragged flesh and blood with them.

I collapsed to my knees, choking on the pain.

Natalia’s hand trembled as she reached out.

She touched the head of the man kneeling in front of her—the untouchable heir, bent low like a sinner.

She stroked his hair gently, like soothing a pet abandoned by its owner.

“Don… I’ve thought it through.”

“I shouldn’t trap myself in guilt anymore.”

“As long as my sister agrees to the divorce… we can be together.”

Damien snapped his head up.

His eyes widened.

“Really?”

He broke into a foolish grin like a lovesick teenager.

Flustered.

Almost giddy.

He clutched her, afraid she’d change her mind.

“I’ll make her agree,” he said softly. “I promise.”

The look in his eyes was cold. Ruthless.

It made even my soul tremble.

“Get some rest. I’ll head back for a bit.”

He rushed out the door.

No trace of the composed Don everyone feared.

I drifted after him.

But before I left, I glanced back at Natalia.

All the pain on her face was gone.

Replaced by a smile that said she’d already won.

Damien ran red lights all the way home.

When he passed the garden, he slowed.

Then turned.

Walked straight toward where my body lay.

I followed behind him.

My heartbeat sped up.

A twisted thought crossed my mind.

Would he be scared when he saw my eyes, frozen open in death?

But he stopped three steps away.

Crushed a snow-covered rose under his shoe.

“Get rid of the garden,” he said to the guards.

“We won’t need it anymore.”

“Natalia hates roses.”

Then he walked inside with light steps.

He kicked open the bedroom door.

“Alison Hayes, let’s get a divorce.”

Silence.

I stood beside him, muttering, “I want that too… too bad death already made the choice.”

Something finally felt off to him.

Mrs. Andersen stood at the door.

“Don… Donna never came back.”

He frowned, rubbing his fingers together.

I knew that habit—he was unsettled.

“Go to the Hayes house. Bring her back.”

The driver wiped sweat from his forehead.

“She’s not there.”

Damien let out a cold laugh.

“Playing hard to get?”

“Does she really expect me to go get her myself?”

The driver’s face turned pale.

He hesitated. “Don… yesterday… you told her to stay in the rose garden.”

Outside, the sound of digging cut through the air.

Damien’s expression changed instantly.

He turned and ran.

A shout rang out. “There’s a body frozen here!”
