The Day My Don Got Sick, I Took His Empire Chapter 07

When I left the ward, it was already dark.

Marco stood outside. The moment he saw me, he stepped forward.
“Donna, some board members are already asking about Don.”

I handed the folder to Celia and said evenly, “We need to stay in sync.
Dante needs rest. I’ll handle all his public appearances and family matters for now.”

Marco blinked. Then he nodded. “Understood.”

He had to understand.

Because once those documents took effect, I wouldn’t just be Donna anymore.

I held fifty percent of Bellandi Holdings and the family voting rights, making me the true power behind the company.

Back at the estate, the main house was fully lit.

A maid came over, head bowed, voice trembling. “Donna, Miss Lena is still in the master bedroom. She’s had a fever and a cough the last few days. She’s very upset.”

“Have the cleanup crew stand by.”

“Yes.”

I went upstairs. The master bedroom door wasn’t locked. I knocked twice, then pushed it open.

Lena sat on the edge of the bed in my pajamas. Pale. Hair messy.

When she saw me, she flinched, then immediately asked, “Where’s Dante? How is he?”

“In the hospital.” I looked at her gently. “Don’t worry. He’s stable.”

She relaxed. Then her lip trembled. “When… when is he coming back?”

I didn’t answer. I just placed a hospital document on the nightstand.

“There’s something the hospital needs to confirm with you.”

Lena glanced at it. Frowned.

At first, like Dante, she didn’t understand.

A few seconds later, her face went pale.

“What… what is this?” She looked up at me, eyes already red.

“Vivienne, is this a mistake? How could I—”

I said nothing.

“Did Dante give it to me?” Her voice shook. “Is that it?”

“It doesn’t matter where it came from.” I watched her act, not calling her out. “What matters is that you follow the hospital’s procedures. Get more tests. Notify your other close contacts.”

She froze. Like she’d been struck by lightning.

She knew what that meant.

It meant her past—the things she never told Dante—would all come out.

It meant the sweet, innocent image she’d built would be shredded.

“No…” She lunged at me, grabbed my hand, sobbed. “Donna, please.
Don’t make this public. I’ll leave. I don’t want anything. I’ll go right now—”

She looked so pitiful.

I didn’t care.

“Procedures are procedures.” I pulled my hand back coldly. “They won’t stop because I say so.”

She crumbled to the floor. It was as if the last pillar of support had been pulled out from under her.

I didn’t look at her again.

Some debts aren’t collected by me.

She owed them herself.

Meanwhile, Dante started to realize something was wrong.

First time he tried to join a board video call, the system said his permissions had changed.

Second time, he could see the meeting room but the secretary politely told him to leave.

Third time, he didn’t even get the meeting notice.

At ten p.m., he called.

I had just finished an international conference. My desk was covered with board documents, family authorizations, port project reviews.

“Vivienne.” His voice was frantic. “You changed my permissions?”

“No.” I signed a page. “Everything is being handled according to the authorizations you signed.”

“The board is bypassing me. They’re going to you. The family council is asking for your opinion.”

“Isn’t that good?” I said gently. “It means they trust me.”

“But I’m the chairman!” His voice went up.

I put my pen down.

“No. You WERE the chairman.”

His breath caught. “You’re not really… going to push me out, am I?”

I leaned back in my chair and smiled.

“Of course not.”

Why would I make him disappear right away?

I wanted him alive, with dignity.

But no decisions. No power. No place in the core of the Bellandi empire.

“Don’t worry, Dante.”

“You’re the founder. The spiritual leader.”

“Your name and photo are still on the company website.”

“You’ll be the family’s most respectable mascot.”
