“Soren? Are you okay?”

Tessa reached for him.

“Everyone’s attacking us online right now. Alessa tricked me too. She’d already miscarried and she still used the baby to provoke me. Otherwise I never would have sent her that video and given her ammunition.”

Soren’s head whipped toward her. His eyes were freezing.

“You sent the video to Alessa? Who told you to do that?”

“And. You said you saw my in-laws at the supermarket this morning. They were already dead by then. Who the hell did you see?”

Tessa realized she’d slipped. She scrambled to patch it.

“I-I must have been mistaken.”

“But she called and insulted me first! She said you were putting all your assets in her baby’s name. She called me a tool.”

“I just wanted to get back at her… Soren, everyone sees me as the other woman now. You can’t just leave me like this.”

“Her baby is gone anyway. What use is a jealous, useless woman like her? I can give you a baby too. Divorce her. Please?”

Soren looked at her. Cold as ice.

“Tessa. I have never loved you.”

“I was good to you because that relentless way you chase your goals—it reminded me of who Alessa used to be.”

“All these years I’ve been going to you. Has Alessa ever come after you first? I know your temperament. You started most of it.”

“I can give you money. I can sweet-talk you. But I will never marry you. My wife is Alessa. Only her.”

“I’ve done more than enough for you. Don’t contact me again. If I ever hear you call her that again, I will end you.”
