The Day I Left He Proposed But I No Longer Wanted Marriage Chapter 03

The moment we pushed open the private room door, there was Claire, surrounded like a queen in the center of everyone.

Seeing us, a playboy in a flashy shirt sauntered over.

“Hey, Evan’s here! So this is that little girlfriend of yours who’s been studying in Switzerland, huh? I heard she’s been at it six years and still hasn’t graduated—is Swiss university really that hard?”

The people beside him covered their mouths, giggling.

“Right? A normal person would be back in four years. Six years and still no degree—could it be she just doesn’t have the brains?”

A burst of laughter erupted through the private room. Instinctively, I looked toward Evan beside me.

But he had already walked over to Claire.

The room was packed with people. There wasn’t a single seat left for me.

Evan didn’t say a word, and everyone else simply ignored me.

I stood there, just like that, for a full half hour.

Music blared through the room.

Claire kept hooking her arm around Evan’s neck, whispering secrets in his ear.

I couldn’t stand watching any longer. I turned and went to the restroom.

I’d barely gotten inside when I heard voices outside.

“Claire, Evan brought that woman here today—aren’t you jealous?”

Claire’s tone was utterly relaxed.

“What’s there to be afraid of? As long as she doesn’t graduate, the Harrison family will never accept her. Besides, her advisor is my aunt Professor Bennett. Screwing over one foreign student—isn’t that the easiest thing in the world?”

Outside, the giggling continued. But inside that stall, my entire body went icecold.

I pulled out my phone and searched my advisor’s name on the academic database.

When I saw the two papers published under my advisor’s name, I drew a sharp, cold breath.

Those were my graduation thesis—papers I’d slaved over through countless allnighters, revised over a hundred times, only to be rejected by my advisor for “format noncompliance” and “faulty logic”!

Now those two papers had been given a new face and turned into my advisor’s “academic achievements”!

Rage consumed me. I immediately sent a message to my advisor.

But no reply came.

I rubbed my legs, numb and tingling, and walked out.

At the private room door, I ran straight into Evan, his face dark with fury.

The moment he saw me, he launched in without hesitation.

“Aria, Claire’s aunt just called. She said you threatened her with academic fraud? You couldn’t get your diploma because your own abilities aren’t good enough—how dare you sling mud at an elder?”

Claire looked at me, her face even more full of wounded innocence.

“Aria, Evan asked my aunt to be your advisor because he wanted the best for you! But just because you couldn’t graduate, that doesn’t mean you can trash her reputation, does it?”
