The Day He Proposed, the Day He Picked Her Up, the Day I Threw Away the Baby Chapter 10

After Tristan and Cassidy left, Garrett remained standing there for a long time.

When everything finally went quiet around him, his thoughts slowly started to make sense again.

The airport pickup that day was something only he knew about.

The only person who could have told Cassidy was Tessa.

But never in a million years would he have imagined Tessa sending Cassidy a photo like that.

Then a memory from high school surfaced.

A lot of guys used to chase Tessa.

Whenever one of them got rejected and moved on, Tessa would get upset and deliberately sabotage it.

Garrett pulled out his phone and called her. She answered quickly.

Background noise filtered through—loud and chaotic. She was at some restaurant.

Garrett’s voice came out hoarse. “Why did you tell Cassidy?”

A dismissive laugh came through the line. “So you guys really broke up?”

Garrett stayed silent, his fists clenched.

“So… you and me…” He paused. “You weren’t actually into me?”

Before Tessa could answer, a man’s voice sounded nearby.

“Babe, who’re you talking to?”

Her tone stayed casual. “Just a classmate.”

Her words hit him hard. Garrett closed his eyes slowly.

Then Tessa laughed softly again.

“Garrett, remember that card you wrote me? The one that said you’d love only me forever? God, that was so cringey.”

She paused, then continued, “You’re the one who broke your promise and started liking someone else.”

“You’re nothing but a lapdog, remember?”

The way she said it sounded completely natural. Like she really was scolding a disobedient pet.

Garrett couldn’t force out a single word.

“What? Nothing to say? Are you mad?”

Her voice dripped with amusement. “All I had to do was crook my finger and you came running.”

“Honestly, Cassidy should be thanking me now.”

Garrett stayed silent from beginning to end.

Finally, Tessa lost interest. Her tone turned flat and bored.

“I heard you two got together, so I came back to see for myself. Now that I’ve seen it… boring.”

The line went dead. That was when Garrett finally snapped.

With a furious roar, he hurled his phone violently onto the ground.
