The Comments Said She’d Replace My Daughter? Not on My Watch Chapter 08

“What happened?”

“I saw your mom was going to arrange an engagement with the Ford boy. I remembered you

already have a boyfriend, so I said something, and the Ford family got upset and left.”

My daughter shot me a displeased look. “Mom, didn’t you just say days ago that you wouldn’t interfere with my choices?”

“What Ford guy? If you want to marry him, you do it. I’m not marrying anyone.”

Marcus shot up from the sofa. “Nina, is that how you talk to Mom?”

I pushed Marcus back down. “Nina, when did I ever say I was arranging your engagement?”

I smiled at Tessa. “Tessa, you did very well. I didn’t really have a good reason to refuse the Fords.”

“I’d long heard that Felix had countless ex-girlfriends and a messy personal life. I never liked him.

I don’t think he’s good enough for our Nina.”

“Nina, don’t you want to thank Tessa?”

My daughter gave Tessa a big bear hug and patted her shoulder. “Tessa, you’re a real sister. Well done!”

Tessa’s face paled.

“But now I’m curious about this boyfriend you mentioned. What does he do?”

My daughter blushed and sat down beside me.

“His name is Caleb Moore. His parents died when he was young, and he works at his uncle’s auto

shop. His uncle works him like a mule and pays him peanuts, but he treats me well, he’d spend

ninety out of a hundred bucks on me. And his auto repair skills are top-notch.”

I listened with interest. “He sounds like a good kid. How about I fund an auto shop for you two?

You’re a rich young lady now, and I can’t have your man too busy to date you.”

My daughter hugged me excitedly. “Mom, really?”

I patted her head. “Of course. Hart Holdings isn’t so desperate that it needs a marriage alliance. You’re free to choose who you love.”

Marcus shook his head helplessly. “Mom, you spoil her.”

Tessa clenched her teeth so hard she nearly ground them to dust.

I looked at her and sighed. “Tessa, things have been a bit hectic at home. I’ll have someone take you home this afternoon. Once the semester starts, I’ll rent you a place nearby.”

My daughter was too busy reveling in her boyfriend being accepted by her family to notice.

Tessa could only lower her head in humiliation and pack her things.

Only after she moved out did I breathe a little easier.

[Oh no, this isn’t in the plot. The baby looks so pitiful being kicked out.]

[Don’t worry. The baby is a master schemer. No one gets the better of her. Just wait.]
