The CEO Hid His Mistress Inside A Million Dollar Painting Chapter 08

“Hello? Put that partnership in the south on hold for now. Mr. Thorne’s position is that their offer isn’t

competitive enough, they’re not showing good faith.”

“Breach of contract penalty? Go ahead and send the notice. The company will handle it. Mr. Thorne said he

doesn’t care about the money.”

“Mr. Locke, hold the bank loan. I need to recheck the collateral documents.”

“Orion, Mr. Thorne thinks your ideas are outdated. Go ahead and process your resignation. Yes, effective

today.”

I sat on a bench in the hallway, making call after call.

Anyone wanting to see Hyatt got turned away with the same excuse: wound infection, no visitors allowed.

Every day when I went back to his room, I smiled and said, “Don’t worry, everything’s fine at the office.”

I was just waiting for the right moment.

Two years ago, to expand fast, Hyatt signed several dual contracts under the company’s name, along with

large-scale tax evasion.

I’d had all the evidence compiled these past few days, ready to hand over to the IRS when the time was right.

I didn’t just want him bankrupt. I wanted him drowning in debt, even facing prison time.

Only by breaking him completely could I stop him from trading “career luck” with the system to rise again.

On the fifth night, I brought dinner to his room.

Before I went in, I heard Vicky’s voice.

“Mr. Thorne, why haven’t you come to see me at all? I’m all alone over there. I’m so scared.”

Hyatt’s voice dropped to a murmur, comforting her, “Be sweet. Perla’s watching closely lately, I can’t leave. I’ll

come see you once I’m out of bed.”

“Then give me a kiss.”

I stood still at the door.

Soon, soft rustling sounds came from inside.

The comments scrolled fast.

[Wow, these two are just insatiable!]

[LMAO. They can’t even spare a hospital room?]

[He’s injured, still pulling Vicky into that White Angels painting on the wall!]

[Seriously? Doing hospital bed roleplay inside a painting of a hospital?]

I stood holding the food for a few seconds, then turned away.

At the elevator, I sent Hyatt a message: [Something came up at the office, I won’t come tonight. Rest early.]

A long time passed. He never replied.

I threw the still-warm dinner straight into the trash.

Next morning, I checked him out of the hospital.

He looked surprised. “So soon?”

I smiled. “No matter how good the hospital is, home is more convenient. Besides, we have a personal doctor

at home.”

“You and Vicky are both hurt. It’s more comfortable to recover at home. I’ve had rooms ready.”

Hyatt glanced at me, seeming touched.

“Perla, you really think of everything.”

I nodded. “It’s the least I could do.”

When the car pulled into the mansion, Hyatt froze.

All the paintings I’d destroyed were gone.

In their place, huge, expensive new oil paintings lined the walls.

Endless snow-capped mountains, quiet Japanese hot springs, medieval castles, luxury yachts.

I turned to him, smiling gently, “Hyatt, I know I had a bad temper before. I ruined so many of your treasures.

These are paintings I had someone bid on at auctions overseas-call it my compensation to you.”

“Now you can enjoy them as much as you like.”

Hyatt’s eyes lit up, greedily scanning each painting.

Vicky trembled with excitement, too.

That very night, he found an excuse to send me away.

“Perla, I’m suddenly really craving that pizza place on the west side. Would you go get me some? It just doesn’t taste right when anyone else buys it.”

Westside was a two-hour round trip.

I nodded, grabbing my keys. “Okay, wait for me.”

Outside, I didn’t leave. I sat in the car and opened my tablet.

What Hyatt didn’t know was that I had military-grade nano cameras installed inside every single one of those twenty paintings.

No matter how deep the system took them into the paintings-whether into a remote mountain forest or an underwater cave-the cameras, with their thermal imaging and deep-penetration technology, captured everything in crystal-clear detail.
