The Captain Who Flew Into Her Storm Chapter 04

The Captain Who Flew Into Her Storm Chapter 04

Callum stood there listening to the automated message, his brows drawn tight.

He hung up, stepped hard on the accelerator, and drove back to the home we had shared.

When he opened the door, he was met by complete darkness.

For the first time, the motion-sensor light I had installed for him in the entryway did not come on.

Irritated, Callum yanked his tie loose and switched on the living room lights.

Nothing in the apartment looked different, yet every trace of my presence was gone.

“Elara?”

No one answered.

The comfort that used to fill the apartment had vanished, along with every quiet act of care he had

once taken for granted.

He strode into the bedroom and pulled open the closet.

The closet was nearly empty. My clothes and accessories were gone, along with the suitcase that

had always sat in the back corner.

Callum’s breathing grew heavier as he strode back into the living room.

A white document lay on the dining table, held in place beneath a glass of water.

He approached with trembling hands and moved the glass aside.

Bold black letters stood out across the top of the first page: [MARITAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT)

He immediately flipped to the last page.

My signature was already in the lower-right corner, each stroke clean and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

Beside the agreement, I had left my keys arranged neatly on the table.

Callum gripped the agreement until his knuckles turned white.

He called me again, only to get the same unavailable message.

His WhatsApp call failed too, and only then did he realize I’d blocked him everywhere.

He suppressed the anger rising in his chest, tossed the agreement onto the table, and still refused

to believe I had truly left him.

The following morning, the airline held its scheduled safety awards ceremony and High-Altitude Weather Dispatch Plan presentation at headquarters.

The auditorium was packed, and the Director of Operations sat onstage with a broad smile.

Tessa sat in the front row among the honorees, her makeup flawless.

Callum sat beside her, looking tired but still maintaining his usual calm, authoritative demeanor

The director picked up the microphone and announced that the High-Altitude Weather Dispatch Plan would officially be incorporated into the airline’s standard operating procedures.

Tessa was just about to stand and accept the award when the auditorium’s double doors swung

open.

Three senior investigators from the Safety and Compliance Department entered with grim

expressions.

Ignoring the stunned crowd, they walked directly to the AV control desk and inserted a USB drive

into the main computer.

Lines of system audit logs immediately filled the projection screen.

“The Safety and Compliance Department received a formal complaint from an identified employee regarding this plan,” one investigator announced. “We’ve also obtained conclusive system data.”

His voice echoed through the auditorium as he continued, “The audit trail shows that Elara Vaughn created the document and made every revision through the final draft.”

“Every entry came from her employee account and assigned workstation IP address.”

The room fell silent as every gaze turned toward Tessa.

The smile froze on her face, and her lips began to tremble.

Callum’s face changed, and he shot to his feet.

“This may be a misunderstanding. The document was compiled collaboratively.”

The investigator gave him a cold look, then opened the next file on the screen.

It was the original surveillance footage from the hotel terrace the night before, complete with

audio.

Our voices rang through the auditorium with perfect clarity.

“So you used my work to pave the way for her without even asking me?”

“The plan was a team effort. Listing her as the lead author was within procedure.”

“I’m warning you. What you’ve done violates procedure, and if you move forward with this plan under her name, I’ll make sure it ruins both of you.”

When the recording ended, silence settled over the room once again.

The smile had vanished from the director’s face, replaced by disbelief and fury.

Tessa’s legs gave way, and she collapsed back into her chair.

Callum stared at the screen and swayed slightly on his feet.

At last, he understood that my final warning hadn’t been an empty threat.
