The Alpha’s Rejected Luna: Crown of Thorns Chapter 13

The Alpha’s Rejected Luna: Crown of Thorns Chapter 13

I let the tears fall truer now, small and quiet. “We must go, baby. Daddy will understand.” I made my voice wobble just

enough to break any doubt in his mind.

Kael dropped to his knees in front of us like a wolf who’d seen the moon set for the first time. “Please, Ravenna Don’t

Stay. Stay with me. I will mate you officially. I will mark you tomorrow. I can’t lose you.”
Asher threw himself at Kael, burying his face in his chest. “Mate my mother now, Daddy. I’m scared she’ll take me

away from you.”

I sobbed. “Your father will never mate me because he loved Sera first. I will always be called the mistress if this keeps

going. Let’s go, Asher. We can start fresh away from all this.”

Kael’s voice cracked, pleading. “Tomorrow, we perform the mating ceremony. Just don’t go.”

My smile when I said yes was the quietest victory. Inside I hummed with triumph. He had given me everything without knowing how I played him. He pledged a ceremony while I made sure he would never see the truth until it was too late. Asher clung to him harder, and I let them both think they’d won. I let Kael believe he had saved us. I let him think he still

held the leash.

It is delicious when Alphas beg. It is sweeter when they hand you the leash themselves.

Sera’s POV

It had been a week since I arrived at Damien’s safe house by the sea. Strange how quiet can feel like freedom. No Kael howling in the halls, no Ravenna pretending to be sweet while stabbing me behind my back. Just the sound of waves rolling against the rocks, servants bringing food I didn’t even ask for, long afternoons where Lily ran until her

cheeks glowed red.

I didn’t even have a phone. No news. No idea what the pack world was saying about me. But for once, I didn’t care. Lily laughed again like a real child. She chased butterflies in the garden, her hair messy, her voice ringing bright. I whispered to myself one afternoon, watching her from the terrace, “Thank you, Damien…”

I remembered the jet ride here. Damien didn’t speak a word to me. Not one. He just sat there, sharp profile against the night sky, as if silence itself belonged to him. When we landed, he only told me, “Everything is ready at the safe house. If you need anything, ask the staff. I have business with Roman.” Then he left. No explanations. Just like that. He

disappeared, yet his shadow stayed. His presence was like smoke-clinging, heavy, even when he was gone.

At night I dreamed of Kael. His voice roaring, calling me names. Ravenna’s smile twisting like poison. Sometimes I woke clutching the sheets so hard my fingers ached. I whispered to myself, “Never again. I’ll never go back.”

And then tonight-he returned. The house stirred before I even saw him. Servants running, doors opening, nervous footsteps. My heart beat like a trapped bird. When Damien stepped into the hall, it felt like the air bowed. He was

heavier than I remembered, like he had walked through blood and fire and won.

Lily clung to me, her small hands gripping tight. I didn’t know if I should feel safe or scared when Damien’s gaze found me He didn’t come alone. There was a woman beside him, calm, polished, carrying a healer’s bag.

Damien’s voice was flat, commanding, but it dropped like thunder. “This healer will take care of Lily. Your daughter will shift one day.”

I froze. My knees almost gave out. “Wh… what?” My voice cracked like glass. “You… you brought…?”

The healer nodded gently, examining Lily’s small frame with care that made my chest hurt. “There is a path. She will

need time, but with the right treatment, her wolf will awaken. She can shift.”

Lily’s face lit up like a candle. She turned to me, voice trembling with hope. “Mum, I can shift! I can shift one day!”

Tears burned my eyes. My throat closed. I wanted to fall at Damien’s feet and thank him until I had no words left. I

whispered, shaking, “Thank you… thank you so-

His eyes cut to me sharp, silencing me instantly. “Save it.”

He turned away just like that. Cold. Distant. Like it meant nothing.

But I still smiled through my tears, clutching Lily to my chest. Because no matter how he said it, no matter how he

looked at me, I knew. Somewhere inside that terrifying wolf, he had done this for us. For me.

And for the first time in years, hope felt real.

That night one of the servants knocked softly on my door. She said, “Madam, the Alpha wants you in his study.” My

stomach turned, but I nodded and followed.

His study smelled like aged whiskey and the sea breeze cutting through open windows. Damien was sitting behind

a massive desk, half in shadow, half in light. My eyes betrayed me-they stayed on the scars crawling from his neck

down his arms, marks from fights I never fully understood. God, he looked sharp, untouchable. My heart beat faster

just staring, and I hated myself for it.

He didn’t speak. Just dropped a folder on the table. I opened it with shaky hands. My name was already there, beside

his. A mating contract.

My breath caught. “What… what is this?” My voice came out small, though I knew exactly what it was.

His gaze pinned me. “You’re mine. Have you forgotten? That’s the price of the freedom you begged me for. The price

of leaving your former Alpha.”

I swallowed hard, my chest tight. “I know. And I… I thank you. Until the rest of my life, I’ll thank you for saving my daughter.”

‘I don’t need thanks,’ he said, voice sharp as a blade. “I need you to sign. Now”
