Ten Years Later, I Woke Up as the Wife of the Mafia Heir I Once Hated Chapter 08

Why had Alex looked at me like that?

Why had he spoken those words in a tone that sounded almost like goodbye?

And Nick…

he still hadn’t come back this late.

Could something have happened to him?

Maybe because I had been worrying about everything, I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night.

My throat was dry, so I got out of bed to find some water.

But the moment I reached the staircase, I stopped.

Someone familiar was sitting in the living room.

Moonlight spilled through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, outlining the man’s cold, sharp profile.

In that moment, I barely even thought.

The name slipped out of my mouth.

“Seb…?”

It was Seb.

I didn’t even bother putting on my slippers properly.

I ran straight toward him.

The moment I fell into his arms, a strange sense of familiarity washed over me.

The Seb from ten years later was completely different from the boy I remembered.

But I still instinctively grabbed onto his arm.

Our skin touched.

I could feel his body stiffen for a moment.

Then slowly, he wrapped his arms around me.

All the fear, anxiety, and confusion that had built up over these past few days disappeared in that instant.

Holding him, I finally broke down and cried.

“Seb, where did you go?”

“I was so scared…”

“Can you take me away from here?”

The man didn’t answer immediately.

He simply listened quietly as I cried.

A warm hand gently rested on my hair, silently comforting me.

“Yeah.”

“I’m here.”

Seb’s voice was slightly different from the boy I remembered at twenty.

But I quickly convinced myself that it made sense.

Ten years had passed.

People’s voices changed over time.

That was normal.

Seb helped me back to the bedroom and gently laid me down on the bed.

I looked at his face.

But everything still seemed covered by a thin layer of fog.

I rubbed my eyes.

Yet I still couldn’t see clearly.

Seb held my hand.

His voice was gentle.

“Okay.”

“Go to sleep.”

“I’ll stay with you.”

Seb’s presence gave me a sense of security I hadn’t felt in a long time.

I grabbed his hand and gently pressed it against my cheek.

But because I moved too quickly, my fingernail accidentally brushed against his palm

A faint scratch appeared on his palm.

Seb only looked down at it.

Then, as if nothing had happened, he gently patted the back of my hand.

“Sleep.”

“Everything will be okay.”
