System Error: The Hero is a Villain? Chapter 02

Fine. Let’s do this.

Lucian’s body was a masterpiece. I wasn’t exactly losing out.

For the mission, I was all in.

Lucian’s pupils blew wide. His hand lifted to push me away.

Then the drug hit him again.

With a low groan, he crushed me against him and deepened the kiss.

The world dissolved into heat and teeth and gasping breath.

By dawn, I was wrecked. Sobbing into the sheets.

I finally understood karma.

That bastard Lucian had stamina that defied nature.

Through the haze, I remembered the book’s description of Lillian.

“The eldest daughter of the Hart family. A wolf in silk. Humiliating Lucian night after night without mercy.”

When I first read it, I’d hated her.

Now? I was in awe.

Night after night?

Girl, you were a goddamn legend.

I woke to a full-body ache I couldn’t put into words.

Rubbing my throbbing lower back, I looked around.

Black marble floors. A crystal chandelier dripping light. Opulence in every corner.

I stared, stunned.

The bed beneath me was king-sized. Three times bigger than anything I’d ever owned.

Tears of pure joy pricked my eyes.

I knew Lillian was rich. But not thisrich.

After a lifetime of scraping by, I’d finally hit the jackpot.

As I wallowed in bliss, a bowl of plain congee appeared in my vision.

Lucian’s voice followed. “Crying already? Don’t like my place?”

I blinked. “This is yours?”

“Whose else?”

I rubbed my eyes. Then rubbed them again.

Inside, I was weeping blood.

Wasn’t your company bankrupt? How the hell do you own a mansion like this?

Guess even a fallen king still towers over peasants.

Seeing my tears, Lucian misunderstood.

His thumb brushed my cheek, gentle. Awkward. Almost soothing.

“Don’t cry. I lost control last night.”

“Eat. There’s a painkiller in it. You’ll feel better.”

My cheeks ignited remembering fragments of the night.

I whispered, “Oh,” and took the bowl. Drank in silence.

It settled my stomach.

Lucian watched me. “I’ll take responsibility. Stay here from now on.”

“Huh?”

I choked on the congee. Eyes wide with alarm.

This wasn’t the script.

Wasn’t I supposed to be propping up the bankrupt Lucian?

How did it flip?

When I didn’t answer, he arched a brow. “Problem, honey? Last night you promised to ruin me in bed. Backing out already?”

I wanted the floor to swallow me.

Why did he remember that?

Trash talk. Competitive instinct. Part of the mission.

But if I actually followed through…

Would I even survive until the ending?

Or just die of exhaustion first?

My confidence crumbled. I stammered a weak excuse.

“Um. Actually, I’m picky about beds. Yours feels… unfamiliar. I won’t sleep.”

Lucian smiled.

“No issue. If you hate this bed, I’ll move the one from last night in here.”

“That one should feel familiar enough, right?”

In the original, the female lead left the male lead speechless.

Why was it the reverse for me?

Who was bullying whom?
