She Wore My Kidney, I Wore Her Ruin Chapter 04

She Wore My Kidney, I Wore Her Ruin Chapter 04 Nailed to Shame

I backed away silently

When I got home, I opened my laptop and dug up the posts from three years ago.

Even after all this time, the Kingsleys still seemed unwilling to let me go.

The scandal was still pinned high online. A simple search for “kidney donor sister” brought up pages of it.

I could imagine how devastated Evan Kingsley must have been when he saw it.

I had gone against his wishes and insisted on donating my kidney to Bianca. He had already been unhappy

about it.

Then the scandal broke. It must have gutted him.

I tried my hardest to explain. No one believed me except my relatives.

But they had no power and no voice. No matter what they said, people called it excuses.

The internet cursed me from every direction.

Some people sent funeral wreaths.

Worse, someone followed me home and tried to break in.

I was cornered until there was nowhere left to hide. I could only leave the city.

Later, Evan called me. I did not answer.

I returned everything he had ever given me.

He sent only one message.

“Clara, you really are heartless. After everything between us, how could you betray me? What did I ever do to deserve this?”

Even he believed the internet.

I had just survived surgery. My body was weak. They nearly took the other half of my life too.

Now that I thought about it, the Kingsleys probably never wanted him to marry a woman missing a kidney. So they helped push me down.

They nailed me to a wall of shame.

I abandoned the research I loved and fled to a bigger city.

It’s not like I haven’t thought about calling the police over those forged photos and chat logs.

But when I went to the station, the officers told me the records were real. They had indeed been sent from

my phone.

Only then did I understand.

Victor had used the excuse of asking me to help care for Bianca. While I was distracted, he stole my phone and sent messages to himself in my tone. Then he deleted the records.

I had never known any of it had happened.

After all these years, hearing Victor admit it with my own ears still felt like falling into an ice pit.

Now Bianca had relapsed, and no one could save her.

But my name could not stay ruined like this.

The Kingsleys had helped build this lie. The Kingsleys would help bring it down.

Evan was already married to an heiress from his own circle.

Still, gossip magazines often photographed him drifting through nightclubs. Every rumored girlfriend looked a little like me.

I was not worried he would find me.

I had come back to say goodbye to the past.

I never expected to uncover something like this.

Victor had destroyed me. Bianca had accused me.

I would make them pay.

As for Bianca, she had relapsed. Without another kidney from me, she was already hovering at death’s edge.

I did not need to lift a finger.

She would die on her own.

I took a deep breath and skimmed through everything quickly.

Then I shut the laptop and took a cab to the cemetery.

Three years.

I had not dared to come back even on my parents‘ death anniversary.

When I arrived, the flowers in front of their grave were sull fresh.

Bianca must have brought them.

The woman who had once denounced her own sister as a husband–stealing villain had now fallen into desperation again.

With nowhere else to go, she had come here.

I sat in front of my parents‘ grave for a long time.

Then Bianca arrived, breaking the silence.

“Clara, I’m sorry, I-”

“Don’t,” I interrupted. “You did wrong me. That much is true.”

Bianca choked. Then she grabbed my arm.

“Leave. Please leave right now, okay?”

“Victor is not a good person. Now that he knows you’re back. He’ll come after you!”

I shook her off.

“Back then, you and Victor sang the same tune. Don’t pretend you’re the good one now.”

“Bianca, I will leave. But not yet.”

“You destroyed my reputation. I’m going to clear my name. Everyone of you will pay.”
