She Took My Seat, He Took Her Side, I Took Another Man Chapter 05

She Took My Seat, He Took Her Side, I Took Another Man Chapter 05

He gave the order, and the drivers got out. In no time, they tore down the front gate. They grabbed shovels and tools from the hallway and swung at the windows, the back wall.

In minutes, the home I’d lived in for over twenty years was rubble.

My mother went pale, her whole body shaking as she collapsed.

“Stop! You can’t tear this down!” Dad tried to block them. But before he could say, “The mudslide will break

through and kill us all,” Dominic threw a wad of cash in his face.

“I can’t afford to owe poor people’s money-this is compensation.”

“Dominic! Stop!”

I rushed to my father. But before I could say another word, everyone’s faces went ashen.

The rain had turned from heavy drops to a torrent. Mud and debris surged down the mountain.

Dominic was quick-he scooped up Nina and ran for the car. The men dropped their tools and sprinted to

their drivers’ seats. One by one, the cars sped away.

I helped my mother up and ran toward the cars-but every door was locked. Except the one Dominic had

been too slow to close.

I lunged and grabbed the door just as it was shutting. “Dominic! Open it-there’s still time for my parents to

get in!”

A dull thud. Four of my fingers snapped.

He’d slammed the door with all his strength, crushing my fingers into pulp. The pain shot through me, and

darkness nearly swallowed me whole.

“Dominic, please open the door! I know the safest route! I’m sorry my dad said that-I’ll kneel to Nina if I have

to! There’s still time-please-”

He didn’t give me a chance to finish. He kicked my mangled hand. “Let go! If anything happens to Nina, your whole family will pay.”

My hand had lost all feeling. I couldn’t even tell when he kicked it free.

The car didn’t stop. It drove off without a pause.

I turned. The mud was about to breach the demolished wall. In desperation, I dialed the only number that

could save us.

“Sebastian. Save me. Please. I’ll remarry.”

Eight words. In eight seconds, a car appeared before me-the one that had been following at the very back of

the procession.

I met those familiar eyes.

“I’ve prepared for both-as a bridal escort and as a groom. Sienna, I’ve loved you all these years. I was just

waiting for you to say the word.”

“Sebastian. Marry me. I’ll marry you.”

This time, I didn’t refuse. I clung to him like a lifeline-and I didn’t plan on letting go.

He lifted me into the car and got my parents in too. I sent one last message and blocked Dominic

everywhere.

“Dominic. I’m remarrying. There’s no future for us.”
