She Took My Husband on My Wedding Night, I Didn’t Find Out Until We Gave Birth Together Chapter 04

“The biggest mistake of my life was saving either of you!”

I screamed the words so hard my throat felt like it was tearing apart.

Pain flashed across Killian’s face, and for a moment, it looked like he wanted to say something.

Then Hazel suddenly let out a shrill scream and burst into hysterical sobs.

“It’s gone… everything’s gone…”

The guilt on Killian’s face disappeared instantly.

“What good is bringing this up now?” he said coldly. “It’s been years. Stop obsessing over it. Besides, none of this would’ve happened if you hadn’t tried playing hero in the first place.”

Then he ripped my baby out of my arms.

“Hazel,” he said gently, “Clara really has forgiven you. Look, she even brought the baby here so our daughter can donate her heart to your son.”

I looked up at him in horror.

“There’s only one heart!” I screamed, lunging for my child. “She can wait for another donor! My daughter is not an option!”

Tears poured down my face again.

My voice trembled with desperation I didn’t even realize I had.

“You promised me you’d protect her!”

Killian avoided my eyes and sighed.

“Maybe this child just wasn’t meant to survive. We can always have another baby later. But Hazel got her tubes tied because she was afraid you’d feel uncomfortable about her having children with me. She’ll never get another chance to be a mother. You’re a mother too, Clara. You don’t really want to push her to her death, do you?”

I shook with rage and tried to take my baby back.

But Hazel suddenly climbed back over the railing and stumbled toward me.

She grabbed my arm tightly.

“Clara, this is all my fault,” she cried. “But my baby is innocent. He didn’t do anything wrong. The only mistake he made was being born to a mother like me. Please… please save him!”

Then she looked up at me.

The weakness vanished from her face.

Her eyes were venomous.

Without making a sound, she mouthed the words:

See? When it matters most, he’ll always choose me. You’re nothing.

The hatred in her eyes stunned me.

She hated me that deeply?

The next second, she deliberately collapsed to her knees and started sobbing dramatically.

“You can hit me, scream at me, even kill me if you want! Just please save my child!”

“That’s enough, Clara Winslow!”

Seeing Hazel cry sent Killian into a rage.

He shoved me violently to the ground.

Then he wrapped an arm protectively around Hazel, took my baby, and walked away without looking back.

“No!”

I collapsed on the floor, sobbing so hard I could barely breathe.

The stitches from childbirth tore open completely, blood soaking through my clothes, but I couldn’t even feel the pain anymore.

I staggered after them in panic, only to find out my daughter had already been taken into surgery.

The moment I reached the operating room, Killian ordered his men to pin me to the floor.

I cried helplessly.

“Killian, please! Please let my daughter go!”

He remained completely unmoved.

“The baby might not even die,” he said impatiently. “I arranged for the newest artificial heart technology. I don’t understand why you’re making such a scene.”

I clung desperately to his pant leg until my fingernails split and bled.

“She’s too little!” I screamed. “How can her body survive an artificial heart? If it works so well, then why isn’t Hazel’s son the one using it?!”

Killian frowned.

But he said nothing.

Outside the operating room, the only sound left was my desperate sobbing.

A long time later, the doors finally opened.

The doctor stepped out with regret written all over his face.

“The girl was too young. Her body couldn’t survive the procedure. I’m sorry.”

“But the boy’s surgery was successful.”

Hazel immediately lit up with joy, barely able to hide the triumph in her eyes.

Killian let out a quiet sigh and walked over to help me up.

“Clara,” he said softly, “if you love children that much, we can always have another one.”

Hazel took my hand and pretended to comfort me.

“Clara, my son is your son too.”

At that moment, the voice of the Arcane Pact echoed in my head again.

[Countdown: 1 minute remaining. Contractor must die immediately or remain trapped in this Contracted Realm permanently.]

My mind went completely blank.

A loud ringing filled my ears.

Ignoring everyone around me, I brushed past the doctors, grabbed the scalpel from a nurse’s tray, and drove it straight into my neck without hesitation.

Hot blood sprayed across Killian and Hazel’s faces.

Then the Arcane Pact spoke one last time.

[Contractor is now exiting the Contracted Realm…]
