She Stole My Future, Then Called Herself Justice Chapter 05

The next afternoon, I arrived at Starlight Tower half an hour early.

Audrey was already waiting at the entrance.

When she saw me, she put on her professional smile.

“Claire, this way, please.”

She led me into a luxurious dressing room.

Makeup artists and stylists were already waiting.

“Attorney Reed gave instructions to get you properly prepared. It’s a national livestream. Image matters.”

I looked at my tired face in the mirror and felt nothing.

“No need.”

“I’m fine like this.”

Audrey’s smile froze.

“Claire, this…”

“I’m a delivery driver. This is what I look like now. If I can’t even face the real me, what’s the point of talking about a settlement?”

Audrey looked uncomfortable, but she did not argue.

Ten minutes before the livestream started, Olivia finally showed up.

She wore a cream-colored dress, her hair falling softly over her shoulders, looking gentle and harmless.

She walked over and looked me up and down, a mocking smile tugging at her lips.

“Claire, you’re still so difficult.”

She leaned close to my ear, her voice low enough for only us to hear.

“You memorized the script, right? Don’t say anything stupid out there.”

“Remember, you’re going to cry and beg for my forgiveness. I’ll graciously give you a chance to turn your life around.”

“Do it right and the settlement money is yours. Mess it up…”

She paused, her eyes turning cold.

“You won’t be able to handle the consequences.”

I did not look at her.

I just straightened my collar.

“Don’t worry. I won’t say a single word wrong.”

The livestream began.

The studio was set up warmly with soft lighting and comfortable sofas, everything designed for reconciliation.

Host Camille Hart was a celebrity mediator known for turning ugly conflicts into tearful healing segments.

At the start of the show, Camille used her signature warm tone to tell the story of two sisters.

Of course, it was the version Olivia’s team had fed her.

A kind, patient, successful younger sister.

A jealous, twisted older sister who had gone down the wrong path.

“Today, we’re honored to have Claire Bennett here with us. We hope that through this conversation, we can clear up years of misunderstanding between these sisters and bring love and family back where they belong.”

Camille handed me the mic.

Olivia sat beside me, already wiping tears, her shoulders shaking perfectly for the cameras.

I looked straight into the lens and stayed silent.

Everyone waited for me to speak.

Waited for me to say, “I was wrong.”

“Claire?”

Camille prompted me.

I took a deep breath and spoke slowly.

“Before I say anything, I’d like everyone to watch a short video first.”

The whole room froze.

Olivia’s crying stopped.

She snapped her head up, panic flashing in her eyes.

“Claire, you…”

I ignored her and nodded toward the control room.

The big screen in the studio lit up.
