She Saved Herself for Her Foster Brother, Not Me Chapter 08 You Can’t Leave

Stella shoved Zach off and scrambled to pull her shirt closed. Zach jumped up too, yanking on his pants.

“Ethan… Cole?!” Stella’s eyes went wide. “How did you get in here?!”

“This is my house,” I said.

“Your house?” Zach sneered. “Ethan, have you forgotten what you are now? A nobody in the kitchen. You think you deserve to live in a place like this?”

I ignored him and went upstairs.

In the bedroom, my things had been tossed into a cardboard box. It was shoved into a corner. A few clothes. Some books. An old camera. My wedding ring.

I pulled the box out and started packing.

“What are you doing?!” Stella followed me up. Her shirt was still open. She did not care.

“I already signed the divorce papers. This house belongs to the base. It is yours. I am taking my things, and I am leaving.”

“Leaving?” Stella laughed. “Ethan, do you really think you can just walk out?”

She blocked the doorway. Zach moved to block it too.

Both of them were half–dressed. Both of them were full of attitude.

I did not answer. I kept packing.

She kicked my box over. Everything spilled across the floor.

“Ethan, listen to me. Get on your knees and beg right now, and I might let you stay in the mess hall until you retire. Otherwise, I will make sure you cannot stay on this base another day.”

Zach stepped forward and put his foot on my clothes.

“Brother–in–law, do not be so stubborn. Look at yourself. You have nothing now. You are like a stray dog. Stella is kind enough to throw you a scrap. You should be grateful.”

I spoke coldly.

“Move.”

“And what if I do not?” Stella lifted her chin. “Ethan, do you still think you are the captain you used to be? Let me tell you something. You are nothing now. Your achievements? Mine. Your rank? Mine. Even your life–I decide that.”

“Was my mother’s death yours to decide too?”

The air went dead.

Stella’s face flickered. Then she recovered. “That was an accident. I already explained that.”

“Three hundred thousand in compensation. Zach took two hundred. The rest went to cover things up. Was that an accident too?”

Both of them froze.

Zach’s eyes went wide. “You… how do you know that?!”

“If you do not want people to know, do not do it.” I put the last piece of clothing into the box and closed the lid. “Move.”

“Move?” Stella smiled. But it was a cold smile. “Ethan, do you really think you are walking out of this house today?”

She pulled out her phone and dialed.

“Security? This is Colonel Hayes. Someone has broken into my home with criminal intent. Send a unit immediately.”

She hung up. Then she looked at me like I was a dog.

“Ethan, I gave you a chance. You did not take it.”

Zach grinned. He leaned against the doorframe.

“Stella, how about this? Make him crawl out on his knees. I will record it and send it to the guys.”

“Good idea,”

I picked up the box and walked toward the door.

“Stop him!” Stella barked.

Zach lunged at me. He reached for my arm. I sidestepped. He stumbled past me.

“You still dare dodge?!” He lost it. He swung a punch at me.
