Seven Months Pregnant—My Stepsister Called My Baby a Bastard Chapter 10

Seven Months Pregnant—My Stepsister Called My Baby a Bastard Chapter 10

In Cedarfield, Virginia, I used my savings to buy a small apartment and found a new job.

Everyone there spoke with the same soft regional accent my mother had carried.

Hearing it always made me feel close to her.

I brought home several plants from a neighborhood garden center and slowly made the apartment

my own.

My coworkers were kind, and my neighbors looked out for one another.

My days became quiet and steady.

I learned what happened to Graham’s family from a video online.

A neighbor near Martin’s house had posted it.

In the footage, Denise and Martin stood outside, screaming and pointing at each other.

She accused his son of destroying her daughter.

He accused her daughter of seducing his son.

Their faces were scarlet with fury, nothing like the united parents who had once defended Talia

against me.

The neighbor added a caption.

[They fight every day. At this rate, they’ll be filing for divorce soon.]

Thousands of strangers filled the comments, waiting for the next update.

Seven days later, another video showed Denise moving out in tears.

A mutual friend called me, laughing before she even said hello.

“Maren, did you see what happened to the Holloways?”

“It became a huge scandal and even started trending. How humiliating.”

“What about Graham? His parents are tearing each other apart, and he hasn’t stepped in?”

My friend sighed.

“He can barely save himself.”

“At first, Denise wanted to accuse him of sexually assaulting Talia, but it happened years ago and

she had no evidence.”

“Then she decided Graham should marry Talia after Talia finished her sentence.”

“Graham refused, so Denise began showing up at his office every day.”

“Several times, she confronted him in front of clients and screamed that he had gotten her

daughter pregnant, then abandoned her.”

“His company finally fired him. Now he stays home and drinks.”

I burst out laughing.

“Good.”

“They earned every bit of it.”
