Separated Rooms for Three Years, He Panicked After I Moved Out Chapter 18

This time, he replied almost instantly.

“Will you come?”

“Not sure yet.”

The screen showed he was typing for a long time. In the end, only one sentence appeared.

“I hope you will.”

I didn’t reply.

When October 18th came, I didn’t go.

It wasn’t because I couldn’t let go. I just didn’t see the point.

That day, I had dinner with my college roommate, Lauren.

We spent the afternoon shopping, had brunch, drank coffee, and then went our separate ways.

That night, while scrolling through Instagram, I saw someone had posted photos from the wedding.

Briar wore a black Tom Ford suit, standing on stage next to Chloe, who was in a Vera Wang gown.

In the photo, they looked like a perfect match.

I liked the post, then kept scrolling.

But things didn’t unfold the way I had imagined.

Three weeks after their wedding, I heard something from a mutual friend.

“I heard Briar and Chloe had a huge fight,” Lauren said over the phone, her voice conspiratorial.

“Why?”

“Apparently, Chloe thinks Briar isn’t attentive enough. She said he’s always distracted, and sometimes he even calls her by the wrong name.”

I froze.

“Wrong how? What’s he calling her?”

“Apparently… your name.”

I was silent for a few seconds.

“That’s impossible. Why would he call her my name?”

“Who knows? I heard it from James. He’s pretty close to Briar, so I doubt he’s making it up.”
