Three days later.

Funeral.

The sky was a dull gray. A light rain fell.

I floated over the cemetery, looking down at the packed, dark crowd.

But at the very front, it was just the four of them.

Hul stood in the middle, holding my body.

He’d put me in a white dress.

My hair was neatly combed.

A silk scarf was wrapped around my neck, hiding the savage cut.

If not for how pale I was, I would’ve looked like I was just sleeping.

Suddenly, someone was dragged over.

Amy.

She was tied up with rope, a rag stuffed in her mouth.

Two wolf guards pinned her to the ground.

Her eyes were huge, nothing but terror in them.

She thrashed like crazy, but couldn’t break free.

Elim walked up to her.

He looked down.

“Do you know what day it is?”

Amy shook her head hard, tears spilling.

“Today is Sana’s funeral.”

Elim’s voice was calm.

So calm it was terrifying.

“You killed her.”

Amy shook her head like mad, a muffled whimper in her throat.

Elim crouched and yanked the rag from her mouth.

“I didn’t-”

Amy shrieked right away.

“I didn’t hurt her! She killed herself!”

“What’s that got to do with me?” she screeched.

Kasdan came over, his red nails stark in the rain.

He clamped a hand around Amy’s throat.

“When you took her place, was that none of your business?”

“When you framed her for stealing the necklace, was that none of your business?” he added.

“When you stole her credit and lied to every one of us-was that none of your business?”

His fingers tightened.

Amy’s face turned purple.

“Enough.”

Hul’s voice cut through.

Kasdan let go.

Amy crumpled to the ground, coughing hard.

“She can’t die yet.”

Hul said.

“She still has to watch Sana be laid to rest.”

Elim turned, facing the tribe.

“I, Elim, Alpha of the Wolf Tribe.”

His voice boomed, loud enough to carry across the whole square.

“As of today, I sever the mate bond with Amy.”

“She is no longer my Luna,” he declared.

“No longer one of the Wolf Tribe.”

Whispers rippled through the crowd.

Amy went sheet-white.

“Elim. you can’t—“

He turned away, wouldn’t look at her.

Right then.

I heard the World God’s voice.

I froze.

It worked?

The moment he broke the mate bond?

After I was already dead?

I drifted in the air, not even sure what to feel.

Too late.

All of it was too late.

Kasdan stepped forward.

He stared at Amy, hate burning in his eyes.

“I want you to see it too.”

He raised his hand. A ball of fire bloomed in his palm.

Kasdan ground his teeth and snarled,

“I treated you like the most important person. I thought you saved me.”

“But you lied to me,” he murmured in disgust.

The flame trembled, then slammed into Amy, searing her skin. She howled in pain.

The World God’s voice rang out again.

Another victory that came too late.

Skalardon came out last.

His eyes were red, full of tears.

“Little sister…”

He looked at my body, voice raw.

“Your brother failed you.”

His body started to change.

Fur pushed through his skin.

Bones swelled.

He was shifting into a bear.

“Amy-”

His voice dropped into a beast’s growl.

“You got my parents killed.”

He could barely get the words out. “You murdered them and framed my sister.”

“And I actually believed you.”

He lunged at Amy.

A massive paw smashed into her chest. She spat a mouthful of blood.
