Scorned by the Beastmen, Loved by their Healer Chapter 06

The memory crystal flared to life.
Huer set it on the table, its light spilling into the air.
Like a mirror.
And in that mirror were my memories.
First scene.
The day I saved Kasdan.
I was still young. I hadn’t been in this world for long.
I was in the forest gathering herbs when I heard something crash down from the sky.
I ran over and saw a dragon hatchling.
One wing was broken, and he was covered in blood.
It was Kasdan.
He was curled up on the ground, shaking with pain.
I crouched, tore strips from my own clothes, and wrapped his wounds.
“Don’t be scared. I’ll save you.”
“Wait here,” I said, “I’ll find herbs.”
I ran a long way and found herbs to stop the bleeding.
By the time I came back, he’d already passed out.
I kept watch over him for three days and nights.
Until his people found him.
Right before they left, he opened his eyes and looked at me.
“It was you… who saved me?”
“Mm.”
“What’s your name?”
“Sanna.”
He gave a faint smile and blacked out again.
The scene shifted.
Amy stood in front of Kasdan.
“I’m the one who saved you.”
“My name is Amy.”
Kasdan looked at her, eyes soft.
“Thank you.”
“I’ll remember you,” he assured her.
And poor me had been tied to a tree in the distance by the servants Amy brought with her, a gag over my mouth.
The memories kept playing.
Kasdan went pale.
“This isn’t real…”
He stared at the images, lips trembling.
“Back then, the face I saw was clearly Amy’s…”
Second scene.
Elim.
He’d been poisoned and lay in bed, out cold.
No one could do a thing.
I scoured the entire forest and found herbs for an antidote.
I boiled them into a brew and fed him, sip by sip.
For three days and nights, I didn’t sleep.
He woke up just as I’d stepped out to fetch water.
When I came back, I saw Amy sitting by his bed.
“Lord Elim, I found the medicine.”
“You’ve been the one taking care of me?” he asked.
“Mm.”
Elim took her hand.
“Thank you, Amy.”
“I’ll make it up to you,” he promised.
I stood in the doorway. The water bucket slipped from my hand and hit the floor.
They turned and looked at me.
Elim’s eyes went cold.
“What are you doing here?”
“I…”
“Get out.”
I didn’t explain.
I turned and left.
Third scene.
Skalardon.
The day my parents died, I cried all night.
Skalardon held me and said he’d always protect me.
But later, Amy told him, “You know what? Sanna’s been talking trash about you.”
“She said you don’t deserve to be her brother,” she said. “Said your folks shouldn’t have taken you in. Said you’re just a useless piece of junk the bear clan didn’t want.”
“She also said our parents’ death was your fault.”
Something changed in Skalardon’s eyes.
He came to me and slapped me across the face.
“Why would you say that?”
“I didn’t—”
“Still gonna lie?”
He stopped believing me.
After that, every time he helped me, it was fake.
Just for show in front of Amy.
To prove he wasn’t covering for me.
The footage rolled on, one piece after another.
Every time, it was Amy setting me up.
Playing the victim in front of everyone.
Stabbing me in the back when no one was looking.
At first, I tried to defend myself.
But no one believed me.
In the end, I went quiet. Again and again, a silence heavy with disappointment.
The little cabin was dead still.
Only the memory crystal cast its faint glow.
Elim sat on the floor, eyes locked on the images.
His lips were shaking.
“All this…” he stammered.
“Is all this real?”
