Asher grabbed Vivienne’s leg, glaring at Elias.

Elias stared at him. His heart clenched. The kid looked so much like Aria-those blue eyes,

that stubborn face. But he called Vivienne “Mommy” and looked at his own father with hate.

“Asher,” Elias crouched down, voice soft. “Aria’s your real mother.”

“NO!” Asher buried his face in Vivienne’s skirt. “She’s BAD! Always trying to steal me!”

“Daddy’s leaving us for that bitch!” Vivienne cut in. “Baby, Daddy doesn’t want us!”

“No…” Asher cried, clinging tight. “Daddy don’t go…”

Elias watched, felt helpless.

Had Aria felt like this? Watching Asher call Vivienne “Mommy,” heart breaking?

“Asher,” Elias took a breath. “Do you know who your real mom is?”

Asher said nothing, small hands gripping Vivienne’s dress.

Long silence. Then tears fell.

“I know…” His body shook. “I know she’s my mom… but every time I wanted to see her,

everyone said I was bad…”

Elias went still.

“You said I should listen, call Vivienne Mommy…” Asher sobbed. “If I didn’t, you wouldn’t love

me… so I… I had to…”

He couldn’t finish.

Elias knelt there, fists tight.

Not Asher’s fault.

His fault.

He’d made everyone call Vivienne the mother. He’d stripped Aria’s identity. He’d pushed his

son away.

“Aria…” He closed his eyes. “I’m sorry…”

Next few days, Elias searched like a madman.

Sent out the best trackers. Combed everywhere.

That evening, a young warrior slipped into his study.

“Alpha, I gotta tell you something.” He wouldn’t look up.

“Talk.”

“Night of the fire, I saw Vivienne… sneaking into the nursery.”

Elias’s head snapped up. “What?”

“Not sure, but… looked like she had lamp oil…” He swallowed. “Didn’t say anything before

Elias was already gone.

Asher’s crying came from Vivienne’s room.

“Shut UP!” Vivienne yelled. “You little bastard, if it wasn’t for you, I’d have Elias’s baby by

now!”

“Mommy please…”

“Don’t call me that!” SLAP. “You make me SICK! Look just like that bitch!”

“Drink it!” She forced Asher’s mouth open, pouring purple liquid down.

CRASH!

Door flew off.

Elias burst in and kicked Vivienne across the room.

Asher sat on the floor, purple at his mouth, red handprint on his face.

“What did you give him?”

Vivienne scrambled back, face white. “He… he was loud…”

Elias grabbed the bottle. Read the label-sleeping draught. Too much makes you crazy.

“You’ve been drugging him?”

Vivienne looked away.

Elias remembered how drowsy Asher had been. He’d thought the kid was sick. But no-

drugged.

“You set the fire.”

Vivienne shook.

“Wanted to burn Asher and frame Aria.”

Elias’s eyes turned gold-wolf coming out.

“No… I didn’t…” Vivienne shook her head hard. “I swear…”

“You used my guilt over Damien. Used Aria’s love.” Elias grabbed her throat. “Played us all. And

I believed you.”

“Elias…” Her face turned red, hands weak on his arm.

“Thought I’d feel guilty forever? Keep making it up to you?” He let go. She collapsed,

coughing.

“Guards!” he barked. “Lock Vivienne Ashford in the dungeon. Forever.”

“Yes, Alpha!”

“NO! Elias!” Vivienne screamed, fighting. “You can’t!”

“Shut up.” Elias looked at her coldly. “Damien always beat you. I know you hated him. When I killed him, you were glad. But you were smart-knew how to use a broken man.”

Vivienne went pale.

“Get her out.”

Just Elias and Asher now.

The kid huddled in the corner, shaking.

“Daddy…” Tiny voice. “What happened to Mommy… I’m scared…”

Elias walked over, crouched. “Asher, she’s not your mother.”

Asher looked up, eyes red. “Then… who is…”

“Aria Whitmore.” Elias touched his head gently. “She’s your real mom.”

“But…” Asher cried. “She left… I saw… she doesn’t want me…”

“She does.” Elias pulled him close. “Daddy will bring her back.”

“Really…”

“I swear.” Elias closed his eyes. “Daddy will bring Mommy home.”

Even if he had to search everywhere.

Even if she never forgave him.
