Reborn After Betrayal: No Mercy for His Sweetheart Chapter 08

Reborn After Betrayal: No Mercy for His Sweetheart Chapter 08

Christian’s face turned bright red after my retort, leaving him completely at a loss for words.

It was the third day after the SAT concluded when the police reached out to me.

I arrived at the police station, where the police informed me that the handwriting analysis was complete and the results matched Wendy’s.

They noted that although what Wendy did was a major criminal offense, since I hadn’t suffered severe physical or lasting harm, she was looking at over a year in prison, a 30-thousand-dollar fine, and 50 thousand dollars in compensation for the psychological toll it took on me.

I was relatively satisfied with the outcome of this case.

The following day, I got stopped by Christian, who was waiting outside my house. I furrowed my brow and stared at him, asking, “What do you think you’re doing here? Do you intend to trespass on private property?”

Christian stood over me with a domineering expression and ordered, “You’re going to drop those charges right now and sign a waiver of prosecution.”

I was completely at a loss for words. “You should go check yourself into a psych ward if you’re mentally ill instead of acting like a lunatic here, Christian. Why on earth would I drop the charges? Why should I show her any leniency?”

Christian grabbed my arm and said, “If you sign the waiver of prosecution, they’ll go easier on Wendy. She’s still so young, Yvonne. Do you really want to destroy her life by sending her to prison?

“If you forgive her, I’ll get back together with you. Wendy could be considered your sister as well. You’re the reason she’s in this mess, so you need to take some responsibility, Yvonne.”

I couldn’t stand him for another second and slapped him hard across the face. “How could you be this shameless, Christian? Wendy is getting exactly what she deserves! Why should I show her any mercy?

“Who do you think you are, anyway, offering to get back together with me? I’m not interested in dating someone I’ve already broken up with, especially someone as trashy as you!”

I took out my phone, intending to call the police, after saying that. If you don’t leave me alone right now, I’ll call the police to report you for harassment, Christian.”

Christian shot me a few resentful looks, then turned and left in frustration.

It was a month later when the SAT results were finally released, and my parents threw a banquet to celebrate my university admission. I had actually secured a spot at Harvelund through early admission back in my freshman year, even though I hadn’t

taken the SAT.

In my past life, I was so infatuated with Christian that I couldn’t stand the thought of going abroad and being away from him, so I chose to take the SAT to study at a local university instead, never realizing that Wendy’s slander would eventually kill me.

I decided to abandon the SAT in this life and honor my parents’ wishes, making plans to move abroad for university in two months. They were also very relieved when they heard about my decision.

I responded to each of the many people who offered their well-wishes and congratulations during the banquet.

It wasn’t long before a server wheeled out the cake. I reached for the knife to make the first cut, but as I did, the server beside me suddenly raised her head to look at me, and in the very next moment, a fruit knife flashed out from her sleeve as she tried to stab

It was then that a gunshot rang out before the knife could touch me hitting Wendy in the arm, and police officers dressed in plainclothes emerged from the crowd and instantly tackled Wendy to the ground.

Wendy stared at me, completely stunned. “You planned all of this?

I retreated a few steps, gazing down at her coldly. “Where’s that childlike manner of yours now, Wendy? You spent so much

time pretending just to get to me-how exhausting that must have been. How exactly did you manage to escape from prison, Wendy?”

Wendy fixed her gaze on me and burst into a fit of manic laughter. You’ll never find out, Yvonne!”

I merely leaned over and whispered a few words into her ear.

Wendy stared at me, her eyes widening in surprise. “How could you possibly know that?”

I didn’t respond to her question.

It was then that Wendy suddenly collapsed, blood streaming from her facial orifices as she died, and the police eventually took her corpse away.

In the end, the graduation banquet came to an imperfect end.
