Pick A Number, He Said, I Picked Divorce Chapter 06

At the hospital, Silas didn’t even turn off the engine. He stormed into the maternity ward like a madman.

“Where is Serena Lancaster?”

The young nurse was startled by his twisted, menacing expression. She quickly pulled up the hospital system to check.

“Serena Lancaster… she was discharged yesterday right after her procedure. She’s not here.”

Silas let out a roar.

“That’s impossible.”

The nurse’s face went white with fear. She had no idea what to do.

Just then, a cold voice came from behind her.

“What’s all the noise about?”

Silas looked up and saw a doctor walking out of her consultation room. The nurse quickly stood and went to her side to explain.

After listening, the doctor’s face instantly went cold.

“Are you Serena Lancaster’s husband?”

Silas let out a cold laugh.

“That’s right.”

“Go on. Tell me—how much did she pay the hospital to put on this act with her?”

“She just wants to force me to bow my head, to make me feel guilty. Well, I’m here now. You can tell Serena Lancaster to come out.”

The doctor didn’t answer. She simply opened the folder in her hands and, page by page, handed him the records—Serena Lancaster’s admission that day, her pre-op tests, her surgical consent form, and her post-op observation notes.

Silas didn’t even glance at them. His voice was ice.

“Documents like these—you can produce as many as you want now.”

“You’re all colluding to deceive me, and you think I’ll believe it?”

The doctor laughed in sheer disbelief.

“Since you don’t believe it, then follow me.”

With that, she turned and walked toward the security room.

Silas stared at her back, silent for a few seconds, and then followed her anyway.

Once inside the security room, the doctor had the guard pull up that day’s surveillance footage.

Silas watched the screen, his expression growing tighter and tighter.

Could it be… that it was all real?

The footage began to play.

Serena Lancaster came out of the consultation room. She leaned against the wall for a few seconds, then slowly took out her phone from her bag. Her expression shifted bit by bit—disbelief, then desperation, and finally, slowly, utter despair.

Not long after, her body swayed. She collapsed straight forward.

A dark red liquid began seeping from beneath her skirt, spreading inch by inch.

The corridor was instantly thrown into chaos.

Nurses and doctors together lifted her onto a mobile bed and rushed her toward the emergency room.

Silas’s face had turned ghost-white.

The doctor looked at him, her voice ice-cold.

“Do you still think we were all cooperating to put on a show for her?”

She hadn’t lied to him.

She had genuinely needed money to save the pregnancy.

And what had he done?

Silas’s legs gave out. He collapsed to the floor, both hands gripping his hair, letting out a wail of anguished regret.
