Perfect Wife No More: I Unleashed Hell Chapter 02 Vivian’s Pregnancy
Arthur froze for a moment as he’d just remembered something.
He pressed his lips together, paused, and then handed me a velvet gift box.
He said, “Birthday gift. I picked it for a long time. This blue diamond suits you best.”
I opened it to find a blue diamond bracelet lying inside.
A wave of bitter feelings hit me.
If he had paid even a little attention, he would have seen I already had two of the same bracelets in my jewelry box.
Carefully picked, yet the same gift for three years in a row.
I almost wanted to ask him if he thought I was stupid enough not to notice this half-assed gesture.
But the system’s warning rang in my head, “Warning! Behavior deviates from Perfect Partner settings.”
So I forced a look of surprise and slipped the bracelet onto my wrist. “It’s beautiful. Thanks for remembering my birthday.”
Arthur froze for a second, his eyes unreadable.
After a long pause, he finally said, “Vivian’s pregnant.”
Seeing I didn’t react, he loosened his tie irritably. “I’ve decided to keep the baby.”
“Congrats,” I said.
We spoke at the same time.
I meant it sincerely—but he suddenly widened his eyes.
He said, “Good, very good, Evelyn. You’re really getting more sensible.”
He paced the living room in anger, then finally spoke—as if this was some kind of charity, “Vivian’s pregnant. The family’s having dinner. You’ll come, too.”
Arthur rarely took me to the Harrington mansion; they looked down on me.
They thought a double-orphaned girl like me didn’t deserve to be his wife.
Back then, if Arthur hadn’t threatened suicide just to marry me, the Harrington family would’ve never given in.
Vivian came from an ordinary background, but it was still better than being an orphan like me.
Back then, I would have refused outright.
But now, seeing the Perfect Partner score climbing on my system panel, I answered softly, “Miss Garrison being pregnant is a good thing. What gift should I prepare?”
Arthur frowned deeper, sneered, and waved his hand. “Whatever you want.”
Then he slammed the door and went into the study.
……
On the day of the family dinner, Arthur messaged that he was going to pick up Vivian.
I had no choice but to take a cab to the Harrington mansion alone.
By the time I arrived, Arthur was helping Vivian sit next to his mom. Michelle Harrington.
Michelle warmly took Vivian’s hand and slipped the family heirloom bracelet onto her wrist.
“This bracelet is meant for a Harrington daughter-in-law. Now, it suits you perfectly,” Michelle said.
Seeing me, Michelle’s face instantly darkened with a cold snort, “You usually can’t be bothered to attend, but today you show up on your own?”
Vivian toyed with the bracelet and shot me a provocative glance.
Arthur looked at me, too, his gaze playful, as if waiting for something.
I set down the gift I’d prepared and smiled gently as I said to Michelle, “I came to congratulate Vivian.
“You have been hoping for a grandson, but I wasn’t lucky enough to keep mine.
“Now that Vivian is pregnant, of course, I’m here to share in the joy.”
As soon as I finished, Arthur’s face went dark. Michelle and Vivian exchanged glances.
Everyone expected me to throw a fit and get kicked out in embarrassment.
After all, no woman would be happy that her husband had a child with someone else.
I glanced at the skyrocketing Perfect Partner score and smiled even more sincerely.
Arthur snorted coldly, his voice low and chilly, “You are so generous…”
I accepted it gladly.
An ideal partner followed her husband’s will, naturally.
I touched the divorce papers in my bag and breathed out.
Once I gave Mrs. Harrington’s spot to Vivian, Arthur would probably be even more satisfied.
