On the Wedding Day, I Married the Groom’s Uncle Chapter 14

The hundred-day celebration was held at the most luxurious hotel in Manhattan.

Beckett and I stepped out of the car with the baby. A man in shredded clothes lurched toward us. His walk was twisted. Broken.

The bodyguards stopped him before he got close.

At first, I thought he was a beggar. It was a happy day. I was about to tell someone to take him aside, give him food and some money.

Then he spoke. I realized who he was.

Jagger Hamilton.

“Beckett. Avery. You have a child now. A new one. Please. Let me come back to the family.”

“I know I was wrong. I know it now. Please. Let me come back.”

After their limbs were broken, Jagger and Tatum never got proper treatment. Both ended up with severe, permanent disabilities.

Years of grinding poverty had turned Jagger into something barely human. A beggar.

Countless nights, he woke up drowning in regret. Why had he believed Tatum? Why had he run?

Tatum left him two years ago. Married some man in his fifties. An old bachelor. Gone.

The wreckage of his body. The desperation of his life. He’d thought about ending it more times than he could count.

One thought kept him alive. If Beckett and Avery ever had another child, maybe they’d soften. Maybe they’d let him come home.

And now that day had come.

Beckett looked at him. Cold. “Letting you keep your life back then was already more mercy than you deserved. Come back to this family? Dream on.”

He ordered the bodyguards to throw Jagger out.

That was it. The last thread of hope snapped.

Jagger went back to his rented room. Not long after, he ended his own life.

When the news reached us, Beckett and I were playing with our son.

Beckett sat silent for a moment. Then he gave the order. Someone was sent to collect Jagger’s ashes.
