On the Wedding Day, I Married the Groom’s Uncle Chapter 12

If Mr. Hamilton had come at me with force, trying to protect Jagger—I would have met that force with more force. The power in this family now belonged to Beckett. The old man would have lost.

But he didn’t do that.

He offered his own life. To die in Jagger’s place. I didn’t know what to do.

Beckett steadied me from behind. His eyes swept across everyone present. Sharp. Lethal. Then he roared.

“Is everyone here dead? Letting the old man make a scene like this? Get him out of here.”

Security snapped to attention. Two men lifted Mr. Hamilton and carried him away.

Beckett saw it in my face. I couldn’t swing anymore. He took the bat from my hand.

“I’m the child’s father. The revenge is mine to take. Ave, step back. Don’t let the sight dirty your eyes.”

Their last shield was gone.

Jagger and Tatum watched Beckett walk toward them. The bat in his hand. Terror consumed them. They shook. Uncontrollable.

“Uncle. I’m your nephew. Your own blood. If you kill me, what about Grandfather? His heart will shatter. He’ll die. How will you face him? How will you face this family?”

Beckett raised the bat. His voice was ice. “That’s no longer your concern.”

The bat cut through the air. Aiming for Jagger’s skull. Jagger pissed himself.

At the final moment, I grabbed Beckett’s arm.

Beckett turned to me.

I took a breath. “Killing them now would be too easy. Too merciful. Break their limbs. Throw them out of this family. Let them taste every misery this world has to offer.”

Beckett frowned. “Ave. Don’t let his words sway you. I don’t care about my reputation. I only care about getting justice for you and our child.”

“Beckett. Sometimes death isn’t the worst thing. They grew up in this house. Luxury. Privilege. Everything handed to them.”

“Now break their limbs. Make them cripples. Let them live worse than common people. That’s a punishment worse than death.”
