Oh No, My Mafia Husband Is About to Lose Control Chapter 06

Oh No, My Mafia Husband Is About to Lose Control Chapter 06

Leon and Lucas met at a private club.

The kind of place that wasn’t open to the public.

Two men in black suits at the door, earpieces tucked into their collars.

Inside the private room, Leon was at the head of the table.

Lucas sat across from him, lazily slung in his chair.

Their eyes met. Neither of them spoke first.

Leon took stock.

Not as tall as him.

Not as handsome as him.

And on top of that, an obnoxious head of bleached-blond hair.

Not a single thing about him measured up.

Yet Bella was willing to divorce him for this guy.

She’d even sold her things to bankroll his business.

What did this man have?

The fury rose, hot, in Leon’s chest.

Nothing of it showed on his face. He looked composed. Almost gracious.

He pushed a blank check across the table.

Voice flat. “Mr. Grant. Name your number. How much for you to walk away from Bella?”

Lucas kept that easy smile on his mouth.

He gave a low whistle.

Picked up the check. Eyed it. His grin grew more punchable. “Big spender. So that Bugatti outside the barbecue place was you. You were tailing us.”

It wasn’t a question.

Leon’s mouth twitched. His eyes were ice.

His voice dropped. “Mr. Grant. As I understand it, your new company just launched. I’d hate for the supply

chain to dry up before the doors open.

Lucas’s expression went blank for two seconds.

Then he burst out laughing.

His shoulders shook. “Oh, you’re threatening me?”

He leaned back, completely unbothered. “Since you ran a background check, surely you also know Bella and I grew up together. And that my family has money too?”

He swung his foot, relaxed. Brow raised. His tone was openly insolent.

“Sure. Go ahead. Block my company. That’ll just make her see who you really are.”

He looked Leon dead in the eye. Pouring fuel on the fire on purpose. “Once she’s done with you, I’ll take her to Europe. You’ll never see her again.”

A slam.

Leon was on his feet, fistful of Lucas’s collar in his hand.

Pure fury rolling, dark, in his eyes.

His voice was lethally low. “Don’t you dare.”

Outside, the bodyguards went rigid.

Lucas dropped the smile.

He looked at Leon, his tone unusually serious. “Instead of threatening me, maybe think about what you’ve actually done to hurt her.”

He paused. “She hasn’t been okay lately.”

Leon went still.

His grip slowly loosened.

Lucas straightened his collar and watched Leon’s back disappear out the door. Then he gave a lazy little

smirk.

“Bella. Big bro did what he could.”

Late that night, I came across a very familiar anonymous forum post again.

This time it wasn’t a system push.

It was a screenshot Lucas had sent me directly. With a long string of crying-laughing emojis.

The headline:

Wife wants divorce because of another guy. How do I get her back?]

thought my eyes were tired.

The comments were exasperated.

What’s there to win back?? If you don’t divorce, what are you waiting for?]

The poster replied:

[No. I can’t divorce her. And that other man made me think. Maybe I’m not blameless. I’m bad with words. I don’t know how to make her laugh. I’m not interesting. It makes sense she got bored. So if she finds excitement somewhere else, I won’t blame her. As long as she doesn’t divorce me, I’m fine.]

The commenters lost it.

[What kind of broken-brained romantic is this guy.]

[Even a dog would get sick eating your brain.]

[A perfectly normal day. Then I read this post and almost died.]

[If that’s where you’re at, just kneel and beg her to stay. Promise to support her AND the other guy.]

The poster replied:

[Would that actually work?]

The commenters had nothing left.

[Is this a troll post?]

[No, he’s deeply, genuinely cooked. Look at his last post.]

With shaking hands, I clicked on the previous post.

[My wife seems to have someone else. She gave my clothes to him. How do I convince her to come home?]

Comments:

[Bro, is this a soap opera??]

I stared.

What in the world?

If not for that familiar “under one hundred meters” tag, I’d have sworn I had the wrong person.

But didn’t Leon want a divorce?

Even if he thought I was cheating, this wasn’t how he should be reacting.

I couldn’t make sense of it.

I decided to go ask him directly.

But when I knocked on his door, there was no answer.

Looked like he was asleep.

I scrolled back through the comments.

He hadn’t replied again.

Okay. He really was asleep.

I’d have to ask in the morning.

What I didn’t expect was that the first person to reach out to me would be the so-called “female lead”—

Elena Walker.

She was Leon’s senior assistant.

We’d exchanged numbers, but never actually used them.

I had no idea why she was asking to meet me, and it made me nervous.

Was it about Leon?

Before I could open my mouth, she pushed an elegant gift box across the table.

Inside was an expensive silk scarf.

Elena smiled, a little shyly. Her tone was sincere. “Mrs. Moretti. I’m leaving for the European branch soon.

I’ve been wanting to give you a gift, but I never found the right moment. If I don’t give it to you now, it could

be a long time before I get the chance again.”

That sentence was packed with information.

I stared at her.

First. Why was she going to Europe?

Second. Why was she giving me a gift?

I didn’t get it.

So I asked outright.

Elena was put together-polished makeup, clean lines. She looked sharp.

She smiled at me, eyes bright and steady.

“Three years ago, I joined Moretti Capital as the boss’s assistant. I’ve always been grateful that he gave me that chance. My résumé wasn’t the strongest in the candidate pool.”

She looked right at me. Serious. “But the boss said, ‘If you want to thank anyone, thank my wife. She’s the one who told me to pick you.”

It came back to me.

Leon had once shown me two assistant candidates’ files.

He’d asked me to help him decide.

I’d known what he was really asking. He wanted to know if I minded a female assistant.

I looked at the files for one second and pointed straight at Elena.

He’d seemed a little surprised. He asked why.

I said, “Because she’s better than the other one. She shouldn’t get cut for the wrong reason.”

After my family went bankrupt, I’d had no choice but to work to pay off the debt.

In that period, I’d clawed for every sale. For the numbers.

I lost count of the cold stares.

Lost count of the nights I’d been forced to drink.

Lost count of the times I had to dodge a sleazy man’s hand.

Even when I was the top performer, people said it was because of my face.

I knew what kind of invisible weight a woman carried just trying to climb in a workplace.

For Elena to have come this far, she had to have fought for it.

She shouldn’t get knocked down over a fear that hadn’t even happened.

Even if she really did have something with Leon, that would mean Leon had given off the signal that he was open to it.

Being his assistant wasn’t her crime.

All I had to do was leave.

When Leon heard the story, he’d quietly pulled me into a hug.

He’d said, at the very least, in his company, everyone would be treated equally.

He’d kept that promise.

Elena had earned her overseas placement.

She was heading to the European branch to take charge of an important legitimate shipping route.

Her career was about to step up.

She held my eyes. “Mrs. Moretti. I’ve truly been grateful to you, this whole time.”

I smiled and answered her honestly. “Don’t be. I didn’t only do it for you. I did it for me too.”

The second the words left my mouth, a flood of new comments appeared in front of me.
