Oh No, My Mafia Husband Is About to Lose Control Chapter 03

Oh No, My Mafia Husband Is About to Lose Control Chapter 03

Leon really did come home late.

I was half asleep when a hand suddenly settled on my waist.

That hand was familiar.

Big. Hot. Impossible to ignore.

His breath fell, ragged, against the side of my neck.

He murmured my name. “Bella…”

My lips parted on instinct, my arms reaching up to wrap around his waist.

His mouth was hot.

A faint trace of alcohol. The pine scent I knew so well.

In the haze of it, I jolted awake.

The comments had said he’d been getting closer to Elena all day.

Then he came home and touched me like this.

What did that make me?

His ex-wife in waiting?

I shoved him away on reflex.

Leon stopped.

In the dark, only his eyes glinted.

Something heavy was pressed flat behind them.

I scrambled to cover.

I tugged the blanket up. My voice came out dry. “Sorry. You startled me. It’s late—let’s just sleep.”

Leon didn’t say anything.

He looked at me. Breathing hard.

Like he was forcing something back down into his chest, piece by piece.

After a long while, he steadied.

He reached up and lightly stroked my hair. Voice low and rough. “Sleep. I’ll go shower.”

He got up and went into the next bathroom.

He didn’t come back the rest of the night.

The next day, Leon didn’t go to family headquarters.

He sat on the living room couch, working through documents.

Wearing the loungewear I’d bought him.

A loose white tee under a black knit cardigan.

On him, it looked relaxed but still expensive.

The soft fabric softened the hard edges of the mafia boss—and gave him exactly the husband-at-home vibe I had no defenses against.

Normally, I’d already be in his lap, gushing, “Whose husband is this? Why is he so handsome?”

Then I’d plant myself on his thigh while he tried to read.

But the comments had told me he didn’t actually like these clothes.

Because I’d bought them, he wore them every time, but only because he had to.

So I just glanced once and looked away.

Leon called after me.

He closed the file. Tone deliberately offhand. “Bella. What about the uniforms?”

My footsteps stopped.

I made my voice light. “Oh. I packed them up and tossed them. Got bored anyway.”

“Bored.”

The air froze for a beat.

Leon stood up.

His eyes landed on my face like he was trying to see whether I was serious.

I didn’t dare look back.

The next second, he turned and walked into his room. His voice, rare and cold. “Whatever you want.”

[YES. Finally the male lead doesn’t have to suffer through this trashy game with the ex-wife anymore.]

[…But why does the male lead look unhappy? His face looks black.]

[You’re imagining it. He’s clearly relieved.]

[Right? Once he falls for Elena, he’ll never go near the ex-wife again.]

For some reason, Leon went back to headquarters that afternoon.

I was about to text him to ask if he’d be home for dinner.

But the comments said he and Elena had already flown to Chicago on family business.

So I deleted the message.

Scrolling up, the chat history was almost all me.

[Husband, come home early. I’m scared of the dark by myself.]

[I want steak tonight. Make it for me?]

[Guess what tonight’s scenario is.]

Leon usually replied with one or two words at most.

Now, looking at it, of course he’d been over me for ages.

Sure enough, a little while later, a message came in.

[Out of town for a few days. I’ll bring you something.]

I sent back a polite thank-you sticker.

While he was gone, I took stock of the bags, jewelry, and gowns he’d bought me.

Stacked together, it was actually a lot.

Should fetch a decent price.

That made me feel a little better.

After marrying Leon, I’d slipped back into the life of a rich woman.

I’d loved a slow, easy life since childhood, so of course I’d quit my job the second I could.

But my family’s bankruptcy had taught me to think about risk.

I could not work. But I had to have savings.

Over the years I’d taught myself funds, futures, stocks. Made decent money on it, too.

If he really did throw me out without a cent, I’d still be fine for a long time.

The day Leon was due back, the comments started celebrating.

[Here we go. Big emotional milestone for the male and female leads.]

[Elena gets hurt. The male lead brings her home to the estate. Ex-wife throws a fit. That’s the last straw.]

[Heh. She’s about to get tossed out. So excited.]

I startled hard.

I rushed to move all my packed-up things out of the estate.

Lucky I’d already rented an apartment downtown. It wasn’t too much trouble.

If I was being this considerate, surely Leon couldn’t be too cruel about the divorce, right?

That night, my phone buzzed with a message from him.

[Where are you?]

Two words, but the pressure behind them hit hard.

I thought it through, then replied:

[Out clearing my head. Back in a couple days. We need to talk when I’m home.]

Leon didn’t reply.

I sighed.

Better to bring up divorce myself than be kicked out.

I tossed my phone aside, slipped on a sleep mask, and tried to go back to sleep.

A few seconds later, the screen lit up again.

A push notification from the anonymous forum.

[Think my wife’s seeing someone else. She even gave my clothes to him. How do I get her to come back?]

[I’m losing my mind!]
