Not His Bride Anymore Chapter 14

I was surprised. But I didn’t respond.

He kept talking anyway.

After Celeste called me, she’d flown to Ireland. She’d tried to drag Callan

home.

Callan didn’t just refuse. He’d forced her to give the ring back.

In her fury, she blurted out the truth about the care center.

Cut ties with him completely. Flew back to the US.

“I know I messed up. I shouldn’t have ignored your feelings. Shouldn’t have bet on you.”

“Look at this ring. Love of my life. Eden. You’re the only one I’ve ever loved.”

I looked at the ring.

The sunlight caught the diamond. It threw off sharp, beautiful fire.

Beautiful. But still a ring that had been easily taken off and handed to

another woman.

I lifted my left hand. I showed him the diamond on my ring finger.

Bigger than his. Brighter.

“I don’t need that anymore.”

“And as for your love-”

I opened my phone. I played the video Celeste sent me.

His face went white as it played.

“Marriage? It’s all the same whoever you’re with.”

The video ended. Callan’s body shook.

“If that’s what you call love, it’s just sad.”

I moved to leave. Callan grabbed my wrist. His face was guilt and desperation.

“Eden, listen. We were just playing a game. What they said-”

“I already warned them. Told them never to talk about you like that again.”

“And the ‘all the same’ thing… I was just being stubborn.”

“I’ll change. I’ll change everything. Please. Give me a chance. Let’s start

over.”

I turned around. I looked into his eyes.

Those warm brown eyes. Filled with pleading.

I wasn’t the girl who made excuses for him anymore.
