No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 03

No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 03

A pack member asked carefully, “Alpha… did you give those to the wrong person?”

“No.” Elijah slid his arm around Kelly’s waist and kissed her forehead. “Audrey and I are going through the dissolution process. After we break the bond, I’ll be mated to Kelly.”

Dead silence.

I felt every pair of eyes on my face.

I just smiled a little. “Congratulations.”

Kelly nodded shyly. “Thank you, Luna Audrey.”

Elijah beamed at her. “I’m taking Kelly off work today. Candlelight dinner. You don’t mind, do you, Audrey?”

I shook my head. “Not at all.”

My wolf sneered. We don’t care about him anymore. Who he spends Valentine’s with is none of our business.

After they left, everyone in the office quietly dispersed. No one wanted to look at me wrong.

My phone buzzed. A text from Elijah.

“Audrey, thanks for saving face for Kelly in front of everyone. She’s really happy. Happy Valentine’s Day—I sent your gift home. Love you.”

I snorted.

How had I never noticed how disgusting Elijah could be?

He’s got his arm around another woman and texting me love you?

Ridiculous.

I got back to the pack house, and a servant ran up.

“Luna! Alpha sent over so many gifts!”

The living room was piled high with presents. But they all looked familiar.

I opened Kelly’s Instagram.

Same gifts. Exactly the same.

He thinks I’m some wolf he can insult like this?

Unbelievable.

“Luna, where should we put all this?”

“Pack them up. I’m taking them to the office tomorrow. We have forty female employees.” I paused. “No. Thirty-nine.”

Kelly doesn’t count.

“But ma’am, there are only thirty gifts here.”

“Then get nine more right now. I want every single woman in the company to get a Valentine’s gift.”

The next morning, every female employee found an expensive present at her desk. Purses, diamond necklaces, custom heels. Every single one cost a fortune.

Only Kelly’s desk was bare.

When I walked in, I waved. “Ladies, yesterday was Valentine’s Day. These are belated gifts from me. Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Cheers exploded.

“Luna Audrey, you’re the best!”

“I’ve never gotten anything this expensive!”

“Everyone gets one—that’s so generous!”

“Um… does Kelly not have one?”

Someone noticed. Kelly’s face had gone white as paper.

I ignored it and went to my office.

Not long after, my door flew open.

“Audrey. Explain.”

Elijah stood there, furious.

I looked up, cold. “Is there something you need, Alpha?”

“Why did you give gifts to every female employee except Kelly? Do you know how upset she is? Her eyes are swollen from crying.”

I looked back down at my work.

“You’ve already given her plenty. Why should I give her anything?”

Elijah paused. When he spoke again, his voice was softer.

“Audrey, be reasonable. You can take a little unfairness. Kelly can’t. She gets chest pains. Understand?”

“Ha.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “Elijah, have you lost your mind? I don’t have time for this. I have work to do.”

But Elijah had run out of patience.

He reached over, grabbed the documents I was working on, and tore them to pieces.

“I said Kelly is upset. She’s throwing a fit. You will go apologize to her. Now.”

I watched the shredded paper float down around me.

Then I spoke, very calmly.

“Elijah. Do you know what you just tore up?”
