My Wife Threw Me into a Pit of Leeches for Her Assistant Chapter 03 The Glass Tank
“You actually pulled a knife right in front of me? If I hadn’t been here, were you planning to carve him up alive?”
Feodora pulled Emerson into her arms and patted his back, whispering soft reassurances.
She didn’t even spare a glance at the blood gushing from my severed hand, splattering across the floor.
I was numb with pain.
I grabbed a rag off the counter, wrapped it around the stump, and cinched it tight, tears streaming down my face.
When I saw my phone lighting up with an incoming call, I broke down completely.
“Grandpa, the baby’s gone. Mom and Dad were brutally murdered. I don’t want Feodora anymore…”
Grandpa was so furious he was breathing hard on the other end, yet he patiently tried to comfort me.
“Don’t be scared, Chester. Grandpa’s here. I’ll send someone to pick you up tomorrow night. The Wilde family is about to face a reckoning.”
A little while later, Feodora came in with some gauze and gently tended to my wound. I went rigid.
She noticed my phone was still on the call screen and frowned. “Who were you talking to?”
“Nobody.”
“Babe, I’m sorry I snapped at you earlier. Don’t get the wrong idea. You’re the only one I love.
“It’s just that you left Emerson with lasting health problems, so I have to take care of him to make amends for what you did.”
I swallowed back the disgust and closed my eyes.
Make amends? What a joke.
She held me in her arms while ordering expensive health supplements on her phone—premium vitamins, protein powder, collagen, and all kinds of high-end wellness products, dozens of boxes in all.
But the name on the delivery was Emerson.
Then she tossed in a few bucks’ worth of anti-inflammatory meds for me like an afterthought.
She noticed me watching and spoke awkwardly.
“Emerson isn’t doing well. The doctor said he needs plenty of extra nutrition.”
I looked away, countless little aches twisting through my chest.
Then a loud crash snapped me out of it.
Feodora charged into the bedroom without hesitation.
A few rats had just crawled out beside Emerson’s feet.
Feodora immediately stepped forward and crushed them under her heel.
Emerson saw me and scrambled over, throwing himself at my feet, trembling all over.
“Chester, I know you think I stole Feodora from you, but there’s really nothing going on between us.
“Then why did you stuff rotting meat under my bed? Why did you lure rats in here to scare me?”
My eyes widened in shock.
Before I could even explain, Feodora kicked me aside, took Emerson by the hand, and walked away.
She looked at me like I was a complete stranger.
My heart shattered into a million pieces.
I didn’t know how long passed before someone dragged me into the garage.
When I saw what was waiting for me, I couldn’t stop shaking.
It was a giant glass tank, piled high with rotting animal carcasses.
Thousands upon thousands of rats squirmed and crawled through the rotting flesh.
Before I could react, the two of them threw me in and locked the door from the outside.
I crashed into the pile of rotting flesh, its warm, slick texture coating me instantly.
Countless rats swarmed into my clothes, crawling into my ears, my nose, and my mouth.
I pounded on the glass door like a madman, my hands smeared with rotting flesh and rat fur, squirming tails writhing between my fingers.
One rat burrowed into the corner of my eye, its claws scraping against my eyeball as it pushed its way in. I tore at my hair and screamed.
A moment later, Feodora’s voice came through the surveillance system.
“Chester, think long and hard about what you did wrong. You’ve hurt Emerson time and time again. I’m locking you up to teach you a lesson—for your own good.”
My face flushed bright red. A rat was stuck halfway down my throat, its tail still thrashing outside my mouth.
Feodora, how could you be so cruel?
I was a fool to think I knew who she really was.
The surveillance monitor flickered to life. She had Emerson pinned beneath her on the bed, kissing every inch of him and softly soothing him.
She gave him all the tenderness and understanding she’d never once shown me.
I lay buried in the rotting flesh, rats gnawing through me from the inside out.
I closed my eyes in despair.
