My Wife Sent Me to a Psych Ward, So I Gave Her a Big Surprise Chapter 08

Nerida Sterling’s legal team worked through the night, organizing all the evidence and submitting everything

to the State Attorney General’s Office.

The law firm Wren had been so proud of collapsed within three days.

The partners who once surrounded her, flattered her, and begged for her approval all abandoned her, terrified that staying any longer would drag them into the scandal.

The law firm’s doors were sealed.

The first person to face the consequences was Marcus.

Investigators from the State Attorney General’s Office stormed into his chambers at Grayhaven Superior Court and took him away in front of all his colleagues.

His wife had just received her promotion, and now she was under investigation as well.

The night Marcus was released on bail pending trial, he rushed to the hotel where I was staying like a man

who had lost his mind.

His hair was a mess, and he wasn’t even wearing his shoes properly.

The moment he saw me in the lobby, he dropped to his knees.

“Sylvan! I’m sorry. I’m really sorry!”

He grabbed my legs and cried uncontrollably.

“I was greedy, okay? I wanted that position too much. I messed up!”

“Please, for the four years we shared a room and trusted each other… please let me go.”

“My wife is divorcing me. I’m going to prison!”

“Sylvan, please… help me ask Miss Sterling to drop the charges.”

I kicked him away.

“You traded my father’s life and my entire future for your wife’s career!”

“And now you want to talk to me about friendship?”

“Marcus, when you sold me out to Emma, did you ever think about the four years we spent together?”

He started slapping himself.

The sharp sounds echoed through the hotel lobby.

“I didn’t have a choice!”

“Wren had something on me. She threatened to ruin me!”

I cut him off.

“Stop pretending you’re the victim.”

“You weren’t forced.”

“You were rotten from the start.”

“Go rot in prison. Don’t ever wear that robe again. You’ve already shamed it”

I turned around and walked into the elevator, leaving his desperate screams behind.

The security guards rushed over and dragged him out.

Meanwhile, another drama unfolded at the police station.

Auden tried to reduce his own sentence by selling Wren out during questioning.

He pushed all the blame for the fake evidence and bribing the judge onto her.

Then he revealed something even worse.

Wren had used the law firm’s money to cover his massive gambling debts.

Wren completely lost control.

The police threw Auden’s hotel records with wealthy women and those humiliating payment records right in

front of her.

The mentor’s son she treasured, the man she called “the purest and cleanest rising star in the legal world,” was nothing more than an expensive gigolo behind everyone’s backs.

Even the drunk driving accident that caused my father to miss his trial hearing happened because Auden had been drinking with a wealthy woman at a nightclub.

Wren broke down completely in custody.

She slammed against the metal door, screaming that she wanted to see Auden.

When they met during the identification process, Wren broke free from the court officer and grabbed Auden

by the throat.

“You bastard!”

“You lied to me!”

“You actually cheated on me!”

Auden’s eyes rolled back as he struggled to breathe.

He clawed at her face desperately.

“You crazy woman!”

“If it wasn’t for your money, who would have bothered pretending to love you?”

“You’re the one who destroyed your own husband’s father!”

“You vicious woman!”

“You deserve everything coming to you!”

The two of them tore at each other like wild animals.

The court officers had to force them apart.

Wren’s face was covered in scratches and blood.

She looked completely broken.

Because of the complexity of the case, Wren paid an enormous bail amount and was temporarily released

on bail pending trial.

The day she was released, rain poured from the sky.

Outside the apartment building Nerida Sterling had arranged for me, a woman stood there, soaked from

head to toe.

She stared at the entrance like a beaten dog with nowhere left to go.

The security guards had driven her away several times, but she refused to leave.

I walked downstairs with an umbrella.

My expression remained cold.

The moment Wren saw me, her legs gave out.

She dropped heavily into the muddy water.

She looked up at me, her face covered in rain and tears.

The confident legal powerhouse she used to be was gone.

“Sylvan…”

“I was wrong. I really was.”

She crawled toward me, trying to grab my legs.

I stepped back and looked at her with disgust.

“Don’t touch me.”

“You’re dirty.”

She cried like a helpless child and kept slapping herself.

“Auden lied to me!”

“That bastard was using my money to keep other women!”

“Sylvan, you were the only one who truly loved me.”

“You’re the only person in this world who would never betray me.”

I looked at the way she begged me.

And for the first time…

I found it completely ridiculous.
