My Son Called Her Mom So I Named My Price Chapter 01

My Son Called Her Mom So I Named My Price Chapter 01

My husband’s childhood sweetheart was always stealing things from me.

After being given a second chance at life and realizing I had fought her until the day I died and still lost, I simply put a price tag on every personal belonging I owned.

She always claimed she got carsick, so every time, she insisted on sitting in my husband’s front passenger seat.

I stuck a Venmo QR code on the passenger-side dash: $100,000 for an annual pass. Renewals were 20% off.

When she set her sights on my project proposal, my husband had barely knocked on my office door before I spoke without even looking up.

“Five hundred thousand. Once the money hits my account, I’ll put her name on the proposal.”

On my son’s birthday, I set aside my work and rushed to his preschool to pick him up.

But he looked up at his teacher and said, “She’s not my mom. I’m not going with her.”

While we were stuck in a standoff, my husband’s childhood sweetheart finally showed up, holding the present I had prepared for my son.

Ryan immediately threw himself at her and hugged her leg. “See? She’s my mom.”

My husband was just about to explain.

Expressionless, I held out my hand to my son. “Five million, and I’ll sign over custody to her today.”

Adrian Bradford stared at me in disbelief. “Clara Sullivan, are you seriously taking your anger out on your own son?”

“He’s only four. Enough is enough.”

Ryan froze for a second when he heard me.

Then his little face flushed bright red, and he clung even tighter to Vanessa Whitmore’s leg.

“Fine, five million! I don’t want a mean mommy like you anyway!”

So in his eyes, I was nothing but a hateful mother, even though I woke up two hours early every day to make him a healthy breakfast.

I had even given up a promotion just so I could free up more time to be with him.

Vanessa rushed in to play the gracious peacemaker. “Ryan, Aunt Vanessa taught you not to be rude.”

Ryan pouted, clearly unhappy. “She’s rude too. Two days ago, when Daddy was with you, she kept calling and bothering him.”

“And Aunt Vanessa taught me that you have to give bad people a taste of their own medicine.”

Adrian’s expression suddenly changed.

“Clara, that day was because Vanessa…”

I raised a hand and cut him off. “You spent our wedding anniversary with her. That costs money too.”

Adrian stood frozen, as if he suddenly no longer recognized me.

After a long silence, he pulled a bank card from his wallet and threw it straight onto the ground.

“Clara, even your own son hates you. Maybe you should take a hard look at yourself.”

He wrapped an arm around Vanessa and got into the car, leaving me covered in exhaust.

I just crouched down in silence and picked up the bank card from the ground.

The sharp corners dug into my palm, and the pain only made my resolve stronger.

In my previous life, whenever Adrian let Vanessa take things from me, I cried, fought, and made a scene.

Not only did I fail to win his love, but he even gave my mother’s grave plot to Vanessa so she could bury her pet dog there.

In a fit of rage, I slapped Vanessa and angrily demanded a divorce from Adrian. I thought that would finally make him realize he was wrong.

Instead, to teach me a lesson, he agreed without hesitation.

He even hired a top divorce lawyer and used legal loopholes to leave me with nothing in the divorce settlement.

Only a few days after the divorce, I suffered a sudden onset of cardiomyopathy.

I did not even have enough money left to call an ambulance, so I forced myself to drag my body to the hospital.

Faced with the crushing medical bills, I had no fight left in me and called Adrian again and again.

Not only did he refuse to answer, but he also let Vanessa use his phone to send me a voice note.

“Clara, you gave me this man of your own free will. You don’t get to take him back.”

I was waiting desperately for the money that could save my life, but in the end, all I received was one gloating photo after another.

In the final moments of my life, I watched helplessly as Vanessa wore my robe and sprayed on my favorite perfume.

Then, on the clean silk sheets I had washed myself, she made out with my husband.

In this second chance at life, even if I had no love left, at least I could demand enough money to keep myself alive.

I just never expected that the son I could never let go of in my last life had taken Vanessa’s side too.

Before I could even grieve, my phone suddenly rang.

It was my doctor calling.

“Ms. Sullivan, we’ve found a donor heart match for you. We can schedule the surgery next month.”

When I heard the good news, my knees went weak, and I had to brace myself against the wall just to stay upright.

This time, I would not die in despair in a hospital hallway.

As soon as I hung up, Adrian sent me a message.

Adrian: [I was out of line earlier. I promised before that I’d give you the wedding we never had. The designer delivered the custom gown to the house. Why don’t you come back and try it on?]

I did not reply, but I did not refuse either.

When I married Adrian five years ago, his family had just gone bankrupt. They were so broke they could not even afford a wedding.

Back then, I firmly believed he had the ability to rebuild his fortune, and that one day, he would make it up to me with a grand wedding everyone would envy.

Who would have thought that once he truly became successful, Vanessa would come along and steal his attention and my son’s affection?

Because of her, I had waited until today and still never gotten that wedding.

When I got home and pushed open the door, I saw Adrian and Ryan gathered around Vanessa, who was wearing a wedding dress, gushing over her.
