My Snake Lord Suitor Chapter 12

My Snake Lord Suitor Chapter 12

After we officially became a couple, Silas hid behind his polished elite human persona constantly when other men showed interest in me.

A male coworker named Damon Cole stopped by my estate to confess his feelings one evening.

Silas stood beside me, putting on a calm, magnanimous act.

“I trust you’ll sort this out however you see fit, Clara.”

The holographic overlays betrayed his seething jealousy instantly.

[He’s a raging ball of envy under that calm mask! He threw a fit for hours once Clara came home covered in cat fur from Purr & Brew Pet Lounge.]

[I unlocked the overlay feed to read his inner thoughts—every man who stares at you is a threat. Jasper deserves a hundred tail strikes, this coworker deserves a thousand.]

[Hold him back fast, or he’ll ship Damon off to the Veyra Coastal Outpost too.]

I wrapped my arms around Silas’s waist to soothe his jealousy, and he melted into my touch, yet still clung to his stoic corporate facade.

I rolled my eyes and called his bluff outright.

“I’ve seen how clingy and dramatic you get as a serpent, don’t pretend you’re unbothered.”

Silas’s cheeks flushed pink, turning his head to hide his embarrassment for a second before spinning back to face me, dropping the fake calm entirely.

“If you’d just post an official social media relationship announcement, I wouldn’t have to fight Jasper and every random guy who sets their sights on you nonstop!”

I agreed to post our couple photos immediately.

A call from an international number popped up on my phone screen seconds after I hit post.

I knew it was Jasper, so I ignored the ring entirely.

He sent a long text message after the missed call, starting with apologies and well wishes before ending with a stubborn declaration.

[I’ll wait until you fall out of love with Uncle Silas. I’m still ready to take my chance when you’re single again.]

Silas recorded an angry voice note to send back to Jasper, furious.

“How dare you chase after your own great-aunt, you brute.”

Jasper shot a quick text reply right away.

[Competing for a mate’s innate serpent shifter instinct. We’re serpent kin, we’re considered brutes by human standards anyway.]

Silas flew into a fit of rage, opening his Aether Digital Assistant to search endless questions.

[Are serpent shifters classified as brutes?]

[Is it legally wrong for a nephew to pursue his great-uncle’s partner?]

New overlays popped up, teasing his tantrum.

[The CEO uses the same digital assistant as everyone else, that’s so relatable.]

[Legally speaking, the term brute only applies to wild animals, not sentient shifters.]

[Silas is this close to shipping Jasper to a mining colony on Mars.]

Silas’s eyes glistened with hurt as he turned to me after scrolling the search results.

“Am I just a brute to you?”

I pulled his tall frame tight against my chest to comfort him.

“I don’t care what form you take or what anyone labels you. I love every single part of you.”

Jasper continued firing provocative text messages regardless of our conversation.

“You’ll grow tired of an older man eventually. Youth always wins out in the end, I’ll get my shot one day.”

Silas grabbed my phone without asking, deleting every incoming message and blocking Jasper’s account fully.

That night, Silas made it his whole mission to show me just how much energy he had, refusing to hold back even an ounce.

Serpent shifter biology made him far more resilient than ordinary humans, and I’d already grown worn out from his past displays of intensity, quietly planning to buy daily energy & recovery wellness supplements to recover faster.

The night stretched on endlessly.

I tossed my head back, exhausted beyond words.

None of this chaos would’ve happened if Jasper hadn’t shot off his cruel mouth from the very start.

By sunrise, I clung to Silas and murmured soft reassurances.

“You’re far more energetic than any twenty-something guy I’ve ever met, age means nothing to me.”

Silas narrowed his eyes suspiciously at my comment.

“How would you know how twenty-year-old men compare?”

I froze, realizing I’d slipped up about the romance novels I’d read in secret.

Silas dug through my saved digital reading list not long after, scanning every title cover to test every trope written within them with me firsthand.

I tried to slip away to escape his plans, caught in his arms before I reached the bedroom doorway.

He lowered his head to rest his forehead against my stomach, voice low and warm.

“Aren’t all those storylines things you wanted to experience with me?”

I loved reading those fictional plots from a distance, living them in real life was an entirely different ordeal.

I’d forgotten fully that Silas wasn’t human at all, his serpent shifter body capable of far more than any regular man’s frame.
