My Sister Stole My Husband, My Son, and My Medal Chapter 06

Later that night, Cressida expected Stellan to pull her into his arms and comfort her, just as he always had.

Instead, Conrad and Blythe slapped her.

“Who are you calling a criminal?” Blythe shouted. “We treated Romy like she was nothing, and she still spent her life putting dangerous people away. She’s dead, and you’re still calling her a criminal?”

“She’s already dead, and you’re still trying to smear her name?”

Stellan got to his feet.

His hands were still covered in blood.

He stared at Cressida.

“Was Bram wrong? You stole Romilly’s work and branded her a traitor. If you hadn’t driven her into complete

despair, she never would have jumped.”

“You killed her, Cressida.”

Cressida covered her swollen cheek and stared at them in disbelief.

The world had gone insane.

That morning, these same people had treated Romilly like garbage. Now they were acting as if they had

always loved her.

All because she was dead?

“I know you’re all grieving, but you can’t blame me for her death.”

“If she had handed over the credit in the first place, would I have needed to expose her on that livestream?

She brought this on herself. Her own selfishness killed her.”

“Shut up.”

Stellan, Conrad, and Blythe struck her almost at the same time.

But it wasn’t the blows that finally silenced her. It was the look on Stellan’s face–the same face that had

once told her he would do anything for her, now twisted into something she didn’t recognize.

He had loved her once. He had chosen her over Romilly. He had faked his own death and abandoned his

career for her.

Now he was looking at her like she was a stranger.

Stellan stared at her. “You framed your own sister, destroyed her name, and drove her to that roof. And you’re

still blaming her?”

Cressida staggered back, one hand pressed to her burning cheek.

She glared at the man who had once adored her and the parents who had always chosen her.

Then she ran.

By nightfall, Cressida was sitting alone in a private dining room at Juniper House. The table was set for eight. The champagne was chilling. The celebration cake, untouched, was melting in the center of the table.

After a long hesitation, she finally swallowed her pride and posted in the WhatsApp group chat titled Family

Forever

[My awards reception starts soon. Senior officials from the department and the state task force will all be

there.]

[Mom, Dad, Stellan, please come and bring both children. This is the most important moment of my life, and

I want all of you there.]

[I’m willing to forget what happened today. I forgive you.]

She set down her phone and waited.

No reply. She told herself they were still grieving. They would come. They always came when she needed

them.
