My Rival Bragged About Her Don Husband, But He Was My Secret Husband Chapter 09

After the dinner debacle, Julian stopped trying to reach me through messages. He came directly to the Costanzo

estate.

I didn’t let him in.

He stood in the rain, practically on his knees by the end. I didn’t come downstairs once.

There was no room for mistakes in mafia world.

A man that foolish had no business being my husband.

But someone even more foolish was still making moves.

A post appeared online: “The Moretti heir’s marriage – who’s really the outsider here?” It was loaded with photos of Selena and Julian together, shot after shot of what looked like a couple.

There was an anonymous “source close to the family” claiming I’d held the Moretti family hostage with a contract and that Selena was Julian’s real love.

Footage from that day had been posted too, carefully clipped to just the part where I was on my knees holding the broken pendant. A caption underneath read: “The Costanzo daughter has some kind of episode at someone else’s wedding.”

The comments were almost unanimous. “Can’t stand these privileged families, always terrorizing ordinary people.” “Haven’t heard the Costanzo name in years. So this is what they’ve come to.”

The post spread fast.

Sandro got the platform to take it down immediately, but the screenshots and the footage were already everywhere. For a hundred years, the Costanzo name had never been someone else’s gossip.

In the family meeting, someone decided to test the waters.

“Miss Ava, the family’s reputation is taking damage. Aren’t you going to do something?”

“Julian will handle it.”

I hadn’t sent anyone to investigate.

I didn’t need to. Every word in that post was written by Selena. I’d already told Julian: this was his last chance, and he needed to clean up after his own mess.

Someone pushed back. “Miss Ava, you’re still giving him chances? The Moretti family took everything we gave them and showed us nothing but disrespect. People will laugh at us.”

I let the corner of my mouth lift.

“No they won’t.”

“I’m going to put the Moretti family right back where they were three years ago.”

I paused.

“Actually, worse than that.”

I looked at my hand and picked up my coffee. “But those particular rats aren’t worth getting my hands dirty over.”

I had other things to take care of.
