My Rich Boyfriend Wanted Me to Spend More, So I Asked for an Electric Bike Chapter 11

Vanessa flinched as if he’d slapped her. Her lips trembled, but her voice was bitter.

“Fine, call me delusional. But you’re kidding yourself if you think your family will let you marry someone like Chloe. Even if you won’t marry me, you won’t get to marry her.”

Adrian clicked his tongue impatiently.

“Your family needs a marriage to keep it afloat. Mine doesn’t. We don’t need another family living off our money.”

Vanessa went pale. She clenched her injured hand, and blood seeped through the white gauze. She didn’t seem to notice.

For a long moment, she stared at him. Then she gave a bitter laugh.

“I never should have come back. Fine, Adrian. We’re done.”

His mouth curved, but his voice turned dangerous.

“Did I say I was letting you walk away? You haven’t answered for what you did to Chloe.”

Vanessa shuddered. “You’re really willing to take us both down over a… a gold digger?”

“Both of us?” He sounded almost amused. “Don’t be ridiculous, Vanessa. You’re the only one going down.”

His gaze shifted to the people behind her.

Within seconds, they were pointing at Vanessa and talking over one another.

“Mr. Hale, this was all Vanessa’s idea! She made us do it!”

“That’s right. She kept telling us Chloe was a homewrecker and a gold digger. She lied to us.”

“Please, give us another chance. We didn’t know!”

Vanessa shook with rage and fear.

“You… you traitors! Do you really think you’ll get away?”

Adrian smiled. “Of course they won’t.”

He took out his phone, snapped a picture of the group, and sent it to his assistant. Then he recorded a voice message.

“Find out who everyone in this photo is. I want every one of them blacklisted in Ravenport.”

His eyes returned to Vanessa.

“The ringleader is a Sinclair. Start with them.”

The last of Vanessa’s pride vanished.

She stepped forward and reached for him.

“Adrian, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done any of this. Please, let me make it right.”

He stepped back before she could touch him.

“I’ll go in and apologize to Chloe. I’ll get on my knees if that’s what it takes. Just leave my family out of this!”

Adrian remained unmoved.

Vanessa’s legs buckled. She dropped to her knees and clutched the hem of his pants.

“I know I was wrong. I didn’t realize you loved her this much.”

“I only did it because I love you. Please, for the sake of what we had, can’t you let this go?”

“What we had?” He looked down at her, almost amused. “I never loved you, Vanessa. I was just having fun. Chloe’s the first woman I’ve ever loved.”

“You love telling people you were my first love. Too bad I was never in love with you-and it won’t get you out of this.”

She stared up at him, then broke into desperate sobs.

“No. Adrian, please. Give me a chance to make this right. Don’t be so cruel. I’m begging you.”

He jerked his leg free of her grip.

“Get away from this room. If you disturb Chloe’s rest, I’ll be far crueler.”

The door slammed in her face.

Vanessa collapsed in the hall.

Before she could gather herself, her friends were on her, blaming and striking her. Their shouts echoed down the corridor until nurses and security guards rushed over and dragged them all away.

The shouting faded down the corridor until it finally went quiet.
