My Parents Said I Was Finally Behaving After I Died Chapter 05

When Fred returned to the mansion, Diane was asleep.

He stayed by her side for the entire night till the sky brightened, and the heavy rain had subsided.

Diane, who had gotten a good rest, finally opened her eyes. She then asked in surprise, “Fred, when did you come back?”

Fred smiled and said, “I rushed back last night. After the family doctor did an examination, he said that too much excitement

and activity had burdened your heart. He asked me not to wake you up.

“So, I let you sleep. How do you feel now?”

Diane smiled and said, “I’m feeling much better after sleeping.”

She looked around and pretended to be concerned. “Where’s Daphne? Didn’t she come with you to visit me?”

It was only then that Fred recalled he had abandoned Daphne in the middle of nowhere last night.

When he thought about the heavy rain and the hail, he felt a bit regretful.

However, he convinced himself that Daphne had always been very independent. She would have gotten a taxi, and he did not have to worry too much.

He did not know that Daphne’s cell phone was still in the basement.

Fred said indifferently, “She’s going for her surgery in a week. She has to get a good rest, so I asked her to go home.”

Diane nodded obediently. Then, she asked expectantly, “Fred… when are we getting married?”

Fred frowned slightly. He was about to change the topic when he met her watery eyes. He could not bear to reject her.

He said, “We’ll get married once you recover.”

Diane said coyly, “I’ve already recovered. Can we get married now?”

Fred pursed his lips. He wanted to decline.

Diane looked down and said sadly, “I’m sorry. I’m putting you in a tough spot.

“L… I’m not asking you to be responsible for me. I’m just… afraid.

“People online are cruel. I’m scared… everyone will think I’m a homewrecker.”

Usually, Fred felt sorry for Diane when he heard such words.

But today, he felt that something was not right.

After all, they had crossed the line even before the rumors surfaced online. So, it was not like the online articles were a lie.

When he thought about that, he turned serious, unlike his usual self. He said, “Diane, what happened between us was a mistake. I hope you don’t take it the wrong way.”

Diane was momentarily stunned. Accident? How could it be an accident if it had happened several times?

She felt like mocking him on the inside, but she put on a pitiful expression on the outside. She said meekly, “I’m sorry. I… I know you love Daphne.

“After this is over, I’ll return you to her.”

Fred looked at Diane, who seemed to be very understanding, and let out a sigh of relief.

Both of them secretly went to officiate their marriage that day. After that, both companies released a copy of their marriage

certificate to clear the rumors.

Very soon, the internet had switched sides.

Fred and Diane had turned into the perfect couple, and Daphne had turned into a filthy adoptee who had tried to snatch Diane’s

husband.

Even though Fred had emphasized in the statement that Daphne had only been with him because she did not know that Fred and Diane had been hiding the truth from her, the witch-hunt continued.

Someone even uploaded a video of Daphne hitting Diane on the internet.

In an instant, Daphne was the most despised person online.

The people who did not know the entire truth used that info to vent their emotions. They were not satisfied with just maligning her. They even went to the Bishop family home to stalk her.

However, even after two days of waiting, they did not see Daphne. They could only throw rotten eggs and vegetables into the garden and filmed their actions to avenge Diane.

Even worse, someone printed posters cursing Daphne and hung them on the gates of the Bishop family mansion.

After Fred found out about these, he was enraged.

He immediately got someone to take down those posters and strengthened the security around the area to prevent the people from disturbing Daphne.

One day, after he chased those people away, he went into the mansion.

He rang the doorbell a few times, but no one answered.

He frowned and looked at the second-floor window that was open. He called out, “Daphne, I know you’re in there!

“Are you still mad at me? Is that why you’re not opening the door?

“I’m sorry. I didn’t think the internet would make such a huge fuss. Don’t worry, I’ve contacted the company’s public relations department.

“Very soon, no one will remember this anymore.”

No one answered him.
