My Mother Cut Me Apart For My Sister Chapter 05

My Mother Cut Me Apart For My Sister Chapter 05

Mom’s thumb hovered over a half–finished post. Then the sneer came back. “Another trick. She probably had this 3D printed.”

“I’m going to prove this is fake right now.” She grabbed the skull fragment and hurled it to the ground, then snatched up a

heavy mallet from the dig site.

White–hot agony split through my head. My entire soul

convulsed. Whatever the body felt, the soul felt a hundred

times worse.

It didn’t crack on the first swing. Mom raised the mallet for a

second swing.

—

I threw my arms around her – please, Mom, stop — but my

arms passed clean through her body. She couldn’t feel me. She

couldn’t see me.

A shard of bone splintered off on the second hit. She was

winding up for a third swing when an officer grabbed her arm.

“Wait – stop!” He turned a fragment over in his gloved hand.

“Something’s wrong. 3D prints have visible layer lines inside.

This…” He went pale. “This looks real.”

Mom froze.

The forensic team moved in and bagged what was left of the

skull–a rapid DNA test against a fresh swab from Mom,

expedited. Even fast–tracked, it would still take two hours.

The chat started taking bets: [Calling it now

Imao]

—

not Stella’s

[If that’s actually her skull, then everything Victor said is true,

and I’m sorry, but there’s no way]

[You’re telling me the drama queen gave up her cushy life to teach in some village?? Make it make sense]

[Exactly!! And they keep dragging Chloe into it- that’s 100%

Stella’s doing] [Leave Chloe alone, she’s literally America’s

sweetheart]

[Chloe is the one who actually donates to underserved

communities! Stella’s out here trying to take credit for work

she never did!]

My mind drifted–back five years, before any of this.

Chloe and I broke into the industry at the same time. I was the one everyone wanted–covers, castings, brand deals lined up

before I could even blink.

Chloe couldn’t even land a meeting. People thought she came off as a try–hard, and she couldn’t shake that impression.

Nobody even knew her name.

Every time I saw her upset and tried to comfort her, she’d lash

out call me a hypocrite, tell me I was rubbing it in. Then she’d go home and tell Mom the reason everyone hated her was because I’d been spreading rumors behind her back.

Then the floods came.

A neighboring county got hit with a month of nonstop rain. I

donated every dollar I’d saved from filming and drove out with a volunteer crew to help.

Thirty–six hours straight, no sleep, until my legs gave out. I collapsed on a cot, pulled out my phone, and scrolled past Chloe’s latest post.

[Stella, that was MY money. I saved every penny of that donation and you posted it on YOUR account like you’re some kind of hero.]

She had a donation receipt of her own–same amount–and paid a bot farm to push the story that I’d stolen her

contribution. A lie that flimsy should’ve died in a day. But then

the one person who could’ve shut it down chose to twist the

knife instead.

Mom went public. Told everyone I had a history of stealing

things from Chloe. That it was “just who Stella is.”

Chloe’s accusation. Mom’s testimony. My rivals piling on. I

went from rising star to industry pariah overnight. I drove

home sobbing and demanded to know why she’d lied for

Chloe.

She slapped me across the face.

“Why did you steal credit from your own sister? Are you that desperate for attention?”

Every word I wanted to say died in my throat. Even now years later – the memory still slides between my ribs like

needle.

A shout yanked me back. “Results are in!”

Everyone at the site surged forward. The livestream camera zoomed in tight on the printout. The chat didn’t flinch:

[Do we even need to see the results?? Obviously not hers Imao]

[If Stella is actually dead, I’ll literally eat my phone on camera]

They all went quiet fast.

Maternal DNA comparison–match confirmed. The remains belonged to Stella Hayes.
