After acquiring Reed Group, I stayed up all night rebranding the company as Bennett Group.

Nathaniel, meanwhile, stood outside every day, waiting for me to leave work, often holding a bouquet of roses.

“Evelyn… I know I was wrong. Can you give me another chance?”

For three months, he repeated this mantra every time he saw me.

Finally, on the third month, I looked him in the eye.

“I just made a mistake this one time. Will you forgive me?”

Watching him stubbornly cling to hope, I bit the soft flesh of my lip and said,

“Alright, Nathaniel. I have a question for you.”

His eyes lit up. This was the first real sentence I had spoken to him in three months.

“Four years ago… was my miscarriage really an accident?”

Nathaniel froze.

He stammered, eyes darting, unable to form a coherent answer.

“It wasn’t an accident,” I said myself.

“You knew my body was fragile, and yet you gave me those specialty supplements.”

“Full of extremely cold herbs.”

I placed a hand on my stomach, eyes filled with pain.

“You deliberately planned to harm our child.”

“How dare you show up here now and ask me to remarry you?”

The Reed Estate still stood in Brookvale, but I no longer cared. Nathaniel and his family were pary of

my past.

“Ms. Bennett, today’s schedule has been sent to your phone.”

I took the files from my assistant and nodded.

Briskly, I walked toward the conference room.
