My Husband’s Gold Digger Test Cost Him His Wife and Son Chapter 08

My Husband’s Gold Digger Test Cost Him His Wife and Son Chapter 08

After I let Ethan in, Noah was so frightened he did not even dare eat his salad.

He only tugged on the hem of my shirt and whispered.

“Mommy, should we call the police? Is he going to drag you away to take your blood again? Noah’s scared.”

The house was small. There was nowhere for his voice to hide.

Ethan looked at Noah with unbearable guilt and tried to reach out to touch his hair.

Noah immediately dodged him and hid behind me in fear.

But after thinking for a second, he stepped in front of me again.

“No. They can’t take Mommy’s blood again. Mommy already works so hard. If she doesn’t have enough

blood, she’ll faint at work, and then Uncle Liam will have to take her to the hospital again.”

“If you really need blood, take Noah’s instead.”

I crouched down and soothed him softly.

“It’s okay. Daddy won’t take anyone’s blood this time. He just needs to talk to Mommy.”

“Be good, Noah. Spider-Man is about to come on. Go watch it, okay?”

In the end, Noah let me coax him back to the TV, though he kept looking over his shoulder, completely

distracted by the man in our living room..

I looked at the man in front of me and gave him a faint, polite smile.

“Are you hungry? I made salad. Do you want some?”

My gentle attitude seemed to catch Ethan completely off guard.

For a moment, he said nothing.

I handed him a bowl of salad, and Ethan’s eyes immediately turned red.

After the first bite of chicken pasta salad, his eyes reddened even more.

Overwhelmed with shame, he lowered his head, tears dripping directly into the bowl as he forced himself to

swallow the food in silence.

He took two more bites before pulling over a napkin, wiping his face messily, and looking up at me again.

“Emma, I know I was wrong.”

Mocked for her looks, she divorces and transforms into a beauty. Returns to…

“I went to the delivery depot where you used to work. I went to the restaurant, and the bar too.”

“I didn’t know how hard your life had been. I didn’t know how much you had suffered.”

“I’m begging you. Give me a chance to make it up to you.”

“Bring Noah back with me. I swear I’ll never doubt you again. I’ll never call you a gold digger again.”

“I’ll buy you the best clothes, the most expensive ones. I’ll buy Noah every toy he likes. We can start over

and live properly together.”

I did not answer him. I only lifted my eyes and asked, “Are you full?”

Ethan nodded, not understanding.

Then I said, “Then go home. And don’t come back again.”

“Noah and I are doing well now. We don’t need you to make anything up to us.”

“If you really want to make things right, I remember the thirty days are already over. Give me a time you’re free in the next few days. I’ll come over, and we can finish the final divorce paperwork.”

Ethan was so thoroughly rejected he could not speak.

He could only look at me with those eyes I had once loved so desperately, their corners damp with unshed

tears.

His lips moved, and his voice came out as a broken whisper.

“Why?”

I let out a small sigh and looked at him with nothing but disappointment.

“Because I don’t love you anymore.”

“I don’t want to give you any chance to make it up to me.’

“If there was a first time, there would be a second, a third, and countless more after that.”

“You said you loved me, but because of a little suspicion and a few guesses, you ignored me and Noah for three years. You hurt us for three years.”

“When I didn’t love you, you chased me and begged me to love you.”

“When I handed you my heart, you treated it like a counterfeit and forced me to bleed to prove its worth.”

“But Ethan, when I fell in love with you, I thought you were just an ordinary office worker. Don’t tell me you

didn’t know that.”

“After you returned to your place as the Whitmore heir, every so-called test you put me through trampled on my dignity.”

Ethan grabbed my hand tightly and pressed his face against it.

“I’m sorry. I lost my mind.”

“I shouldn’t have listened to Grandpa. I should never have allowed Vanessa to run those so-called tests.’

“And I sure as hell should never have gone along with that blood-draw test.”

“You can curse me. You can hit me.”

“Just don’t leave me. Please.”

I only pulled my hand back with force and looked at him coldly.

“The man I married was you.

“The person who made every choice and every decision was also you.

“If you had the nerve to do it, don’t hide behind excuses now.”

Ding-dong. Ding-dong.

The urgent doorbell interrupted us.

Noah ran to open the door.

The next second, Liam rushed in with the police.

Without a word, he pointed at Ethan and cursed, “You bastard. What kind of man picks on a single mother and her child?”

“Officer, that’s him!”
