My Husband Wants to Ruin Me? Fine—I’ll Just Team Up with His Mistress’s Ex! Chapter 03

Vivian walked over, holding the little boy’s hand.

She stopped, looking at me.

“Babe, who is this?”

Sean let go of my wrist. He instinctively took a step closer to Vivian.

She looked me up and down, then smiled.

“Oh, you must be his wife.”

Her tone was so casual, like I was nobody.

“Susan, right? Sean talks about you all the time.”

Vivian leaned down, nudging the boy. “Leo, say hi to the lady.”

My throat felt incredibly tight. I couldn’t breathe.

Sean stepped between us. “Vivian, go back inside.”

“Why should I?”

Vivian laughed. She extended a hand, mocking me with a smile.

“Perfect timing. Why don’t you come inside for a drink, Susan? Come take a look at our home.”

She pushed the door open.

Our wedding photo hung right in the entryway.

But my half had been completely hacked off. Only Sean was left.

“Oh, that?” Vivian smiled carelessly.

“I cropped you out. Sean said the frame was too expensive to waste, so we kept it.”

I looked at Sean. He looked away, staring at the floor.

In the living room, a perfect family portrait sat on the TV stand.

Sean, Vivian, and the boy, all smiling sweetly.

Leftover breakfast was still on the coffee table.

“Sean insisted on making pancakes this morning,” Vivian bragged.

“I told him not to bother, but he said he wanted to spoil me on the weekends since he’s so busy during the week.”

Seven years. Sean had never made me a single cup of coffee.

“Mommy, who’s that?”

The boy ran over, tugging Vivian’s jeans.

“Don’t worry about her, sweetie,” Vivian cooed, rubbing his head.

“She’s just an old acquaintance. She won’t be coming around anymore.”

“Is Daddy done grilling the steaks yet?”

I stood there like an invisible ghost.

Sean pulled out his wallet, flicked out a few bills, and shoved them at me.

“Take it and go.”

It was a hundred bucks.

Vivian let out a sharp laugh.

“Babe, that’s way too generous for a severance fee. A live-in maid only costs a few grand a month. Think about how much money you wasted on her.”

Sean frowned.

He took the hundred back and replaced it with a twenty.

I grabbed the bill and ripped it to shreds right in his face.

“Keep the change, Sean. Consider it my tip for seven years of garbage service. We’re done.”

His face twisted in rage.

He stepped forward, but Vivian caught his arm.

“Babe, let it go. She’s not worth your time.”

I turned and walked away.

By the time I hit the estate gates, my knees buckled.

I had to lean against the brick wall just to stay upright.

Then, my phone buzzed.

Another bank alert: [Account Alert: $3,000 withdrawn.]

My brain went completely numb.

I opened the app. Our joint account was at exactly $0.27.

I checked the history.

Yesterday, the day before, the day before that—the account had been bled dry.

Tens of thousands at a time. All wired to Vivian.

I squatted by the curb, gasping for air.

A text from Sean popped up:

[I moved the rest of the cash for an emergency. My lawyer will mail you the divorce papers. Don’t bother Vivian. She has a heart condition.]

I stumbled into the subway station like a zombie.

Hiding in a dark corner, I buried my face in my knees and sobbed.

Then, my phone rang. A strange number.

“Susan? It’s Vivian. I forgot to mention something.

Sean mortgaged your parents’ house last week, too.

Just a heads up—if the bank doesn’t get the payment next month, they’re foreclosing~”
