My Husband Turned My Madness Into a Live Show Chapter 03

I froze. “What are you talking about?”

Nolan’s enraged voice roared through the phone.

“Check the big screen downtown. All those photos and rumors were arranged by you, weren’t they? You won’t stop until you ruin her, will you?!”

I snapped my head up.

The giant screen was looping explicit photos of Winona, plus intimate shots of her and Nolan together.

The yelling on the phone grew only louder.

“Get over here and apologize to Winona right now. You can’t afford the reality show breach of contract fee, let alone your mother’s medical bills!”

The call just ended, and Winona already posted a list of claims for breach of contract and defamation on her official website.

She accused me of maliciously spreading her private photos and slandering her for destroying my family.

When it rained, it poured.

The company that just fired me sent a lawyer’s letter, claiming I damaged the company’s reputation and demanding compensation.

Someone even leaked photos of me looking half-dead inside the psych ward, confirming to everyone that I was mentally unstable.

[Why even let a nutjob like her out? Just leave us alone!]

[Nothing a crazy person says can be trusted. She’s just maliciously smearing Winona!]

Faced with crippling compensation and constant slander, I couldn’t just stand by.

I fired back by posting an “apology video” online.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have let Winona steal my husband and my child.

“I’m sorry. After I was released from the psych ward, I should have called the police immediately instead of letting them bite me back unpunished.”

The post blew up the second it went up, and netizens flooded to question Nolan and Winona’s relationship.

Nolan kept blowing up my phone, but I hung up on every single call.

Just when I thought I’d gotten away with it, my son cried in an interview.

“Dad and Winona are just friends. Mom’s always been crazy, she even said she wanted Winona dead… Oh…”

Public opinion flipped again. My phone wouldn’t stop blowing up.

One lawyer’s letter after another flooded into my phone.

Seeing my own son accuse me to my face, on top of the mountain of compensation debt, my heart sank to the bottom.

Nolan called, every word a threat.

“Winona got cyberbullied so bad she’s absolutely devastated. You won’t stop until you push her to her grave, right?

“Get your ass over here here and clear this up with an apology, now!”

I couldn’t believe it. I screamed into the phone, “I didn’t do anything wrong. No way am I apologizing!”

What I didn’t see coming was that Nolan sent my mother’s medical bills to me—there were nearly a thousand of them.

“Then go ahead and be stubborn.”

I was homeless, wandering around looking for a place to rent.

But every single landlord turned me away.

“Who knows what a lunatic like you could do? No landlord in their right mind would take you in.”

I tried to explain, “It’s all a misunderstanding…”

“I saw the videos online. Would a kid lie about this? Stop lying.”

The door slammed shut, the thud crashing heavy into my chest.

I went everywhere begging for a loan, but got rejected flat out every time.

“Sorry Josette, I just can’t do it.”

“Honestly, Nolan told us not to lend you anything. If you’re really stuck… just go apologize already.”

Hospital reminders for the overdue medical bills came one after another, more urgent every time.

An unprecedented wave of fear and exhaustion crashed over me. I couldn’t hold on any longer.

When I showed up, Nolan smiled like he expected it.

“I knew you’d come to your senses. Once this is over, I’ll cover all your bills.”

I let out a weak, bitter laugh.

Just as I was about to bow to Winona, Nolan’s cold voice cut me off.

“Things have gone this far. A simple apology isn’t enough anymore.”

He gestured at the guards standing around, and dozens of filming cameras set up everywhere.

“You record a full confession for Winona, and this whole thing goes away.”
