My Husband Saved My Cousin Instead of Me Chapter 08

My Husband Saved My Cousin Instead of Me Chapter 08

I made it to the parking garage. Only Dylan followed. His deep-set eyes were shadowed with a bitterness that

had long since settled in for good. “Sage, have you been okay all these years?”

My body tensed, and I pulled at the corner of my lip. “You’ve seen it. Anywhere Cecilia exists, I can’t be okay.”

What surprised me was that he didn’t jump to defend her like he always used to. Cecilia had a gift for collecting everyone’s devotion.

At first, Dylan was the only one who ever tilted my way. Then she walked in, did that thing she does, and

hooked him instantly.

He turned to me and said, “Your cousin really isn’t as bad as you claim. Are you just jealous she’s prettier?

Even your own parents prefer her. Ever think maybe you’re the problem?”

But now, Dylan was clutching his head in agony. “Sage, I was so wrong. Cecilia’s not the sweet, innocent

thing I made her out to be.”

“She had me wrapped around her finger-always whispering how she couldn’t live without me-and the

second my back was turned, she was off screwing someone richer and better-looking.”

“I know Gavin’s your real husband. She lied. Your parents lied. They all did.”

And yet, he still hadn’t said a single word to defend me just now.

My face stayed blank. I glanced down at Dylan’s worn-out, bleach-faded sneakers. He must be drowning in

regret.

He’d stolen his family’s life savings to chase Cecilia overseas and let his own little sister die because she couldn’t get medical treatment. His parents disowned him.

All his scheming left him with nothing. No girl. Just the job of being her most invisible bodyguard.

His eyes instantly reddened. “Sage, if I told you I regret everything, could you…”

I cut him off fast. “Shut up! I’m not a junkyard. I don’t want Gavin, and I sure as hell don’t want you.”

When I turned around, I found Gavin standing right behind me. I had no clue when he’d gotten there. His body was completely rigid, and he forced his voice to stay even. “Babe, let’s go home.”
