My Future Self Exposed My Mom’s Secret Sacrifice Chapter 03

Mr. Thorne’s face drained of all color instantly.

He fumbled for his own phone, rushing to text someone in a panic.

The county sheriff deputies arrived minutes later.

Kian and Jasper stumbled in right behind them, faces flushed and frazzled.

Kian reached out to grab my arm the second he walked through the door.

“Elowen, let’s sort this out at home, no need to make a scene.”

I stepped sideways out of his reach, looking straight at the deputies with a clear, steady voice.

“I’ve suffered financial and emotional abuse from my family for three years. They limit my monthly spending money to thirty dollars, and they just stole my scholarship to give to another girl.”

The lead deputy’s expression turned grim, glancing toward Kian and Jasper.

“Are you two her legal guardians? Is everything she’s saying true?”

Jasper cut in to explain immediately, but I spoke over him first.

“Don’t misunderstand the deputies. Dad and Jasper claim my mother’s the one forcing all these rules.”

The lead deputy turned to his partner at once.

“Put a call through to her mother for verification.”

All color vanished from Kian and Jasper’s faces completely.

Kian shot desperate silent signals at Principal Thorne.

The principal hurried forward, forcing a nervous smile.

“This is all a terrible administrative error! We’ll switch the scholarship back to Elowen immediately and post revised public notifications—just a silly misunderstanding!”

Jasper grabbed my hand, his tone soft and pleading.

“Elowen, Seraphina’s disciplinary methods are harsh, I’ll admit that. But we’re blood. We can fix all of this privately.”

Kian nodded rapidly beside him.

“I promise we’ll raise your allowance back to a reasonable amount starting today.”

He fumbled with his phone and sent a five-thousand-dollar wire transfer to my account right then.

The deputies’ expressions softened a little after seeing this.

They lectured Kian and Jasper sternly about child mistreatment before leaving the campus.

The ride home was deathly silent inside the car.

Kian stared straight ahead, his features dark and furious, not uttering a single word.

We barely pulled into the neighborhood gates when he slammed on the brakes hard, twisting to glare back at me.

“You’ve figured everything out, haven’t you?” It wasn’t a question—it was a cold, certain statement.

Jasper huffed a bitter scoff, yanking the stack of hidden bank statements out of his backpack and slamming them onto the car seats between us.

My fingers tightened involuntarily when I spotted them.

Jasper shot me a cold, mocking grin, every trace of his usual warmth gone.

“Did you think your little secret investigation would stay hidden forever, Elowen?”

I clamped my jaw shut, my pale face giving away every thought swirling inside me.

Now that their scheme had been uncovered, they showed zero panic like I’d expected.

Kian pulled out a crumpled tobacco stick and twisted it between his fingers, his voice thick with contempt.

“Seraphina definitely sends you more money each month. We only held onto it to keep you from blowing it recklessly as a teenager.”

“Besides, she’s overseas and never bothers checking on you. Jasper and I are the only ones who’ve treated you like family all these years.”

Jasper leaned back against the passenger seat, smug and unrepentant.

If you hate living with us so badly, go track down Seraphina yourself.

A crushing wave of absurd, burning mockery crashed over me, stinging my eyes with hot tears.

I already knew what future-me had warned me about.

Kian and Jasper had severed every single line of communication between Seraphina and me bit by bit over time.

I swallowed the lump burning in my throat, my voice thin and shaky.

“I’m sorry, Dad. I’m sorry, Jasper. I messed up.”

Their expressions relaxed once I submitted to them.

As soon as we stepped inside the Voss Family Estate, I locked myself in my bedroom.

I dug deep underneath my bed and pulled out a cracked custom emergency tracking bracelet—the only gift Seraphina had given me before moving overseas.

Future-me had warned me this bracelet contained a built-in alert system.

If it broke, an emergency notification would send straight to Seraphina’s devices instantly.

I’d smashed it the exact day I’d received that video call from ten years ahead.

Now a tiny green signal light blinked steadily across its surface.

Seraphina had gotten my distress alert.
