My Fiancé’s Confession From the Future Chapter 06

He turned back and went to the detention center.

Jessica sat in the visitation room. When he walked in, her voice was calm.

“Did you know Serena was pregnant?”

He went completely still.

“What?”

“She was pregnant. Three months.”

Jessica watched his face drain of color and let out a bitter smile.

“I saw the prenatal report in her bag when I went to the studio. I had already figured out how to get rid of the

baby.”

She kept talking.

“But she didn’t give me the chance.”

“Before she disappeared, she went to the hospital herself. I checked with them. She terminated the pregnancy on her own.”

The visitation room fell silent.

Ethan felt nothing but a ringing in his ears.

She had been carrying his child.

The future version of him must have told her something.

He had used lies and exaggerated fears to make her, in her despair, end the pregnancy herself.

He walked out of the detention center and crouched on the curb.

Hands braced on his knees, his whole body shaking.

Then his phone buzzed.

A message from the investigation firm he had hired. “Her rental car return location has been confirmed. Address is in a small town.”

He didn’t have time to wallow in guilt.

He left immediately, driving a full day and night to reach the town.

The investigation report only traced her to this city. After that, all traces went cold.

He had no choice but to try his luck, searching street by street.

Day eleven.

On an old street, he spotted a small studio that had just opened.

He recognized the design style on the sign instantly.

He stood across the street and looked through the glass window at a silhouette inside.

She had cut her hair short. Her head was bent over a drawing board, sketching something.

He stood on the opposite sidewalk, clutching the ring in his pocket, the one with only the E left, and let the

tears fall without a sound.

But when she happened to glance up, she saw him.

Our eyes met across the street.

Seeing him again, I felt nothing.

This man had nothing to do with me anymore.

I simply set down my brush and walked to the window.

One by one, I pulled the blinds down.

Left to right. Light to dark.

The last slat fell, shutting him out completely.
