That’s impossible!

No one knew better than he did how much Vivian had looked forward to this wedding.

They’d been together for eight years.

She’d waited eight years.

She had followed every step of the wedding design herself.

She had personally reviewed every guest on the list.

There was no way she would suddenly call off the wedding!

“Delilah, didn’t you know Vivian canceled the wedding?”

Nathaniel turned to Delilah.

“You’ve been handling all the wedding arrangements.

Didn’t the hotel notify you?”

“I had no idea either.”

Delilah played dumb.

“I was only in charge of the costumes, props, and makeup.

Vivian handled the church arrangements herself.

She never told me she was canceling it.”

Nathaniel’s frown deepened.

Suddenly, a thought struck him and he felt a jolt of alarm.

“Is something wrong with Vivian?”

He frantically pulled out his phone and dialed Vivian’s number.

But her phone was off.

He sent messages. No reply.

The atmosphere in the room turned serious.

Delilah suddenly started crying.

“Nathaniel, is Vivian mad at us for going abroad without her last time?

Is she trying to get back at us?

It’s all my fault!

If I hadn’t pushed to leave early that day, none of this would have happened!

I ruined your wedding.”

“Delilah, this isn’t your fault.”

Nathaniel patted her shoulder absently.

“Vivian’s always been so sensible.

She wouldn’t get this upset over something so small.

Something else must have happened.

I’ll get in touch with her and find out.”

Mrs. Morrow looked just as worried.

“Vivian’s always been level-headed.

She wouldn’t just cancel her wedding without a word.

Maybe she’s being threatened by someone.

Nathaniel, we need to find Vivian right away!”

Nathaniel felt a rising sense of dread.

He didn’t waste a second. He ran straight to Vivian’s house.

She wasn’t there.

He went to her company, only to be told she’d taken half a month off.

Nathaniel searched almost half the city but found no trace of Vivian.

Her phone was still off.

The more Nathaniel thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.

They’d known each other for over twenty years.

Vivian had never just disappeared without a word like this.

No matter what happened before, her phone had never been off for more than two hours.

She’d never gone this long without replying to him.

Right now, Nathaniel was a bundle of nerves.

But then Delilah gasped.

“Nathaniel, Vivian’s fine!

She just posted on Instagram!”

Nathaniel’s heart lurched.

He grabbed Delilah’s phone and saw Vivian’s post.

Just four words: [Arrived safely.]

Location: Boston.

Nathaniel finally let out a breath of relief.

Thank God, she was okay.

Before he could even process why her location was Boston, Delilah exclaimed in surprise.

“Hey, Vivian’s location. Isn’t this where the World Cup is tomorrow?

Nathaniel, so Vivian went abroad to watch the World Cup after all!”

Then she started sobbing, forcing out tears.

“I knew it!

I knew she was mad we went abroad without her!

It’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have made you leave early, I shouldn’t have forgotten to tell her.

She must be so angry at me.

It’s all my fault.”

Mrs. Morrow hurried to comfort her.

“It’s okay, Delilah, it’s not your fault.

Vivian’s always been a sensitive one.

Who knows what she was thinking, running off abroad without telling anyone and making everyone worry for

nothing.”

Delilah burrowed into Mrs. Morrow’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

Nathaniel watched her cry, but this time he felt no sympathy. Only a vague irritation.

He even felt, deep down, that Delilah was right.

If she hadn’t insisted on leaving early and leaving Vivian behind, Vivian wouldn’t be so upset with him.
