My Fiancé Took Her on Vacation Instead of Marrying Me? I Married WAY Better Chapter 07

My Fiancé Took Her on Vacation Instead of Marrying Me? I Married WAY Better Chapter 07

Ethan seemed to sense something. His face shifted.

“Serena, what are you doing?”

I looked out at the gray sky and slowly opened my fingers.

The silver band—the one that had held eight years of youth and lies—fell straight into the muddy ground below.

No sound at all.

Like eight years of feelings, finally rotten to the core.

I turned back to him and spoke slowly, one word at a time.

“Ethan. I’m done waiting for you.”

He blinked, genuine surprise crossing his eyes.

But it was gone in a second, crushed by his usual arrogance.

“Again with this act?”

“Serena, you’ll do anything to make me cave.”

In his mind, throwing away that ring was just another game of hard-to-get.

He’d always been sure I couldn’t leave him. That I wouldn’t have the heart to.

But this time, I didn’t even bother to explain.

I closed my suitcase, pulled up the handle, and walked right past him.

As I passed, I didn’t even glance his way.

Some goodbyes aren’t about making a point.

They’re forever.

The door clicked shut behind me. The hallway fell silent except for my own footsteps.

I didn’t look back.

But the door behind me stayed open for a long moment.

Only when the elevator chimed did I hear a crash from inside—something heavy slammed against the floor.

I pressed the button, my face blank.

Downstairs, the front desk clerk saw me with my luggage and hesitated. “Ms. Wright, it’s this late. Are you…?”

I smiled. “Moving out.”

She paused, like she wanted to say something, but in the end she held back.

The moment I stepped outside, my phone buzzed.

Not a call—a new notification in the company group chat.

[Internal Notice Regarding Serena Wright’s Work Misconduct]

I opened it, and the smile faded from my face.

The notice was worded as if it were serious: I’d let personal emotions affect my work, left my post without authorization, delayed the IPO file transfer, and caused significant risk to the company. As a result, my monthly performance bonus and year-end profit share were suspended, and further legal action was reserved.

The last line was CC’d to the whole company.

I stood in the night breeze and felt an icy chill that had nothing to do with the weather.

He still wasn’t done.

It wasn’t enough to humiliate me in front of the office. Wasn’t enough to let Mira walk all over me. Wasn’t enough to slap me in our own home.

He had to twist the knife one more time. At the same moment, a private message popped up on my phone.

From Mira, again.

This time, it was a video secretly recorded.

A shot of me packing my suitcase from behind.

Behind the camera, her voice lowered to a mocking whisper:

“Look at her. She looks like a dog getting kicked out.”

Then another message followed.

[Serena, guess if Ethan is flying to Coral Bay with me tonight or staying to win you back?]

[Of course he’s coming with me.]

[Because he already promised—when we get to Coral Bay tomorrow, he’ll take me to see the ocean first.]

I stared at those messages, and whatever bitterness I had left just… evaporated.

When you hit the bottom of hate, there’s nothing left but calm.

I blocked her. Then I blocked Ethan’s number, his email, his everything—all into the blacklist.

Just then, a cab pulled up.

“Where to?” the driver asked.

I gave him the name of a hotel.

As the car moved, I glanced in the rearview mirror and watched that building—the one I’d lived in for five years—grow smaller and smaller.

Like my foolish, endless youth, finally left behind.

The next morning, the rain had cleared. I stood at the floor-to-ceiling window of my hotel room, watching the traffic stream below, and let out a long breath.

The doorbell rang right on time.

I opened the door to two rows of men in black suits, all bowing their heads in unison. At the front stood Mr. Clark—my grandfather’s most trusted man.

“Ms. Wright, your private jet is ready. You can return to Sterling City whenever you’re ready.”
