My Fiancé Said I Looked Lonely So He Found Me a ‘Friend’ to Share Him Chapter 09

Ethan’s eyes snapped open.

His voice tightened.

“Where is she?”

“Someone picked her up after she left the hospital.”

“We followed the security footage.”

“She’s at Oceanside Wellness Center on the west side.”

Ryan paused.

“The security there is tight.”

“It looks like someone warned them in advance.”

“Our men can’t get inside.”

Ethan was already grabbing his coat.

“Send me the address.”

He hung up and got into his car.

Then he pushed the accelerator down.

Streetlights streaked past the windows.

But Vivian’s words kept repeating in his head.

I’m done with you.

His hands tightened around the steering wheel until his knuckles

went white.

He had never imagined that the woman who stood beside him for seven years would one day end things so completely.

He had never imagined that the person who hurt her most would be him.

If he had believed her sooner…

If he hadn’t carried Mira away…

If he had looked back once…

If he had noticed the blood beneath Vivian’s dress…

Would things have been different?

But there was no such thing as if.

Thirty minutes later, his black Maybach stopped hard outside the center.

Ethan got out and rushed toward the entrance.

A security guard blocked him.

“Sir, please show your appointment confirmation.”

“I’m here to see Vivian Hale.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Without an appointment, you can’t enter.”

Ethan’s brows pulled together.

His voice dropped.

“I’m her fiancé.”

The guard didn’t move.

“We have strict instructions.”

“No one sees Ms. Hale without her direct permission.”

No one.

Not even him.

The words cut deeper than he expected.

Just then, a black Bentley moved smoothly through the gates.

The window lowered.

A handsome man with gold-rimmed glasses sat inside.

He looked refined.

Calm.

Powerful without trying.

The man glanced at Ethan once.

Then the car continued inside.

The same guard who had blocked Ethan immediately stepped aside.

Ethan’s expression darkened.

“Who was that?”

The guard’s face remained blank.

“I’m not authorized to share that information.”

The unease in Ethan’s chest sharpened.

His instincts told him that man was the one who had taken Vivian away.

And whatever existed between them wasn’t casual.

Ethan reached for his phone.

Then a nurse walked out from inside.

“Mr. Sterling?”

He stepped forward immediately.

“Did Vivian agree to see me?”

The nurse held out a brown paper envelope.

“Ms. Hale asked me to give you this.”

Ethan’s stomach dropped.

He opened it at once.

Inside was the engagement ring.

And a single sheet of paper folded neatly.

His fingers trembled as he unfolded it.

There were only a few lines.

[Ethan,]

[Snowball is dead.]

[The baby is gone.]

[And so is every bit of love I had left for you.]

[Our seven years end here.]

[The wedding is canceled.]

[My lawyer will handle everything else.]

[From now on, don’t come looking for me.]

The handwriting was calm and even.

No accusations.

No screaming.

No desperate questions.

That made it worse.

The nurse spoke again.

“Ms. Hale also asked you to remove everything belonging to Mira Cline and her mother from the villa.”

“She said their things disgust her.”

Ethan swallowed hard.

His voice came out rough.

“How is she?”

“Ms. Hale recently suffered a miscarriage.”

“She’s physically weak and emotionally exhausted.”

“She isn’t receiving visitors.”

The nurse looked directly at him.

“Mr. Sterling, if you truly care about her, let her rest.”

Then she went back inside.

Ethan stayed at the gate.

The night wind moved the letter in his hand.

He stared down at the ring.

He had placed it on Vivian’s finger.

He had promised to marry her.

Promised to protect her.

Promised she would never regret choosing him.

In the end, he became the person who hurt her most.

Ryan called again.

“We identified the man in the Bentley.”

“His name is Julian Cross.”

“He’s spent the last few years overseas.”

“His background is clean, but he has serious influence.”

Ryan hesitated.

“There’s more.”

“He and Ms. Hale have known each other for years.”

“They appear to be very close.”

Ethan’s eyes turned cold.

He looked toward the top floor.

Warm light glowed behind one of the windows.

For the first time, he understood the truth with absolute clarity.

Vivian might really never want him back.
